Fishing is a minigame in Ichigaya in Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X). Learn how to catch a fish, tips for fishing, how to unlock fishing, and see all of its rewards!
How to Catch a Fish
Choose a Pond
| Pond | How to Unlock |
|---|---|
| Beginner | Unlocked by default. |
| Expert | Proficiency Level 4 |
| Master | Proficiency Level 7 |
You can choose from Beginner, Expert, and Master Ponds. To access the Expert and Master Ponds, you must increase the Proficiency Level to at least level 7.
Each pond costs Money, so make sure to get enough money before trying this minigame!
Catching a Fish
You can catch a fish by choosing the Bait you want to use, throwing the hook near a fish, and reeling them in once they bite. You can control where you can throw the hook using the A and D Keys or the Joystick for movement.
When reeling a fish, make sure to let the arrow stay on the red mark until the fish gets close to you. You can use the same controls when trying to throw the hook!
Trade Fishes to Earn Points
You can trade the fishes you caught for Fishing Points. You can then trade these points from the shop and get items like Gold Tickets, Platinum Milicoin, different Baits, and more!
Tips for Fishing
Check the Silhouette
You can check the silhouette of the fish before trying to catch them. It should tell you their size and the possible fish you can get based on their silhouette.
Use the Correct Bait for Specific Type of Fishes
Most fish will only react to the bait they prefer when fishing. You should get several baits from the Fishing Shop using the points you get for trading the fishes you caught!

Earn Proficiency EXP
You can earn Proficiency EXP for each fish your catch. The value of the EXP you will get will vary depending on the rarity of the fish you caught!

Talk to Shichi-Kun in Shibuya
You can unlock Fishing by talking to Shichi-Kun in Shibuya. You must select The Joy in Fishing from the dialogue options to start and unlock Ichigaya and Fishing!
