To defeat Thoth found in the Mementos of Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), understand his phases and variants before engaging. Check out the essential details, including the weaknesses and resistances of Thoth and its notable attacks, as well as the best team composition here.

| Enemy Level | Lv. 62 |
|---|---|
| Recommended Level | Lv. 65 |
The Thoth fight is set at Level 62. However, it is highly recommended to tackle this boss with a team that is at least Level 65 and you have a fully built Assassin.
At this point, you should be fully building your Characters to 70. However, this fight is doable even if your Characters are Lv. 60 if you sequence and prioritize the right calls during the fight against Thoth.

There are three different locations to fight the Thoth found in the 4th Area of Path of Aiyatsbus. Each one has its own gimmick, so make sure to take note which one is located where before fighting.

Thoth generally has no weakness, but his companions on his three different fights have weaknesses that are integral for your victory. Horus will be weak to Fire, while the multiple Sandman that Thoth summons will have a weakness to Electric attacks.

At the beginning of the fight and each proceeding turn, Thoth will be dictating four out of the eight affinities as a means to gain Moon Power. If you were to hit Thoth with any of the indicated affinities, it would gain 1 Lunar Power stack. Upon reaching 3 Lunar Power stacks, Thoth will spawn two Sandmans and massively boost its stats.
To avoid having Thoth enter his Full Moon state, simply switch between elemental and mental attacks of your party as Thoth's has a fixed rotation between these two states. Have the other attacker either focus on guarding or using Battle Items if you deem pushing damage is more crucial.
Upon Thoth's third turn, Thoth will use Full Moon's Blessing and grant himself a substantial amount of Shield. If you are not able to remove its Shield, Thoth will again spawn two more Sandmans and buff itself.
Spend the second turn to set up by buffing your team and/or reducing Thoth's defense will be fruitful, as it is essential to burst Thoth's Shield down to avoid having the Sandmen spam Dormina.

If Thoth goes into his Full Moon state, the Sandmen will attempt to inflict the Sleep Status effect on your party to stall you while increasing Thoth's single-target burst. You can use Marian's Healing Grace skill or use an Alert Capsule to prevent losing a party member.

|
| Cycle | Effect |
|---|---|
| Night |
Thoth: Increased attack and defense Horus: Decreased attack and defense |
| Day | Thoth: Decreased attack and defense Horus: Increased attack and defense |
The general mechanic of this fight is that there are day and night cycles which determine the damage and defense of Horus or Thoth. Upon hitting an enemy during their respective cycle, it will change to the other's assigned time.
The fight starts off at night, so Thoth will be more sturdy and deal more damage. If you hit Horus, it will turn into the day cycle, shifting the buff to Horus while making Thoth more fragile.
The goal for this fight then is to whittle down the health of both to avoid having a permanently buffed shadow after one is defeated.
To avoid the dire situation where their attacks hit like a truck, it is recommended to use skills that can hit the both of them. If you are forced to kill one of them, it is best to finish off Horus as its AoE attacks can be quite brutal if let alone with the buffs.
As Horus is the only enemy here that has AoE attacks in the form of Flash Bomb and Megidolaon, it is recommended that you always end a turn order by attacking him so that the damage buff is given to Thoth as it mainly uses Freila and Voidal Vortex.

| How to Beat Thoth With Deep Sleep |
|---|
|
|
The overarching mechanic during this fight is that after one turn order, Thoth will put Wonder and his party into a deep sleep. After a whole turn order, everyone will wake up and restore HP and SP; the twist being that you will have increased damage dealt and SP costs.
With this setup, it is important to always manage your resources that you will expend throughout the fight. Mechanics such as highlights, navigator support, turn limit, and SP will essentially be flipped.
For example, highlights and navigators are stronger here as they will regularly be active for you to use. However, SP management and the turn limit is the problem for this fight as it is a damage check!
Seeing as the main problem during this fight is the amount of damage you deal in comparison to the SP you spend, characters like Joker are essentially neutered as you cannot spend your Extra Turn to use an extra skill.
Generally, it is recommended to use Assassins with Resonance like Bui and Mont as they are SP-efficient with their follow-up attacks!

Due to the increased SP usage, it would be wise to bring Okyann as your navigator here so that you can actively restore your SP while bumping up your offensive stats. Additionally, you will have to take turns to use Stamina Kits so that your DPS can act during a crucial turn.

You have to be careful in attacking Norn, as depending on which attack it receives, it moves the Lunar phases forwards or backwards. Balance out the attacks you make whenever you can, and keep checking on it to keep track of the Lunar Phase.
You do not want to make it advance too much to move towards the Full Moon Phase, but you also do not want to make it leave the New Moon Phase.
Try to keep Thoth maintained in the New Moon Phase throughout the fight. This is his weakest state out of the Lunar Phases, so watch what attacks you launch at Norn throughout the fight.

This team, while it seems there is no synergy, is specifically designed to deal with this boss fight by having high focused damage designed to play around Thoth's rotation and Shield on the third turn.
As for Wonder, he will act as a means of buffing Joker and Fleuret with Revolution and/or Tarukaja with Zouchouten. He will also act as the healer by utilizing's Sarasvati's massive heals during sticky situations!

The best team for this fight is the premium Fire team composed of Panther, Key, Moko, and Okyann to cover Horus' weakness to Fire while dealing AoE damage. Here are the roles of each member.
As for Wonder, he is meant to apply the Burn status before Key's turn, hence the removal of Lufel. He will also act as healer with Sarasvati and a damage buffer to Anne by using Tarukaja when available.

If you were able to get your hands on Bui on her latest banner, the fight against Deep Sleep Thoth should be reliably cleared due to Bui's efficiency with SP through her follow-ups. She is also reliable at clearing the Sandmen that Thoth spawns after the Deep Sleep.
For Wonder, equip him with Yurlungur and Koumokuten as an additional means of increasing damage. Additionally, having Sarasvati should ensure the survivability of your team! Janosik is included to easily answer the Rakshasas.

Make sure that your team is not underleveled and under-equipped for the Path of Aiyatsbus. Make sure to have your Phantom Thieves at least around the Minimum or Recommended Level for the boss fight.
Leveling Guide: How to Level Up Fast

Before you head into the fight, remember to adjust your team comp properly as well as their turn order! The game will even bring you to the Team screen just before the boss fight properly begins.
Make sure to bring the right people for the job. Otherwise, the fight will be a lot harder before you realize you are using the wrong team.

Before you go into the fight, you could consume some of the home cooking Wonder makes in the kitchen. The food he makes will grant the team some buffs that will last for a certain number of battles. These include boss fights like in the Palace or in Mementos!
