If you don't mind using cheats to find it, Surtling can also easily be spawned with the console command.

To spawn the enemy, first turn on cheat codes by typing imacheater in the F5 console, and use the spawn Surtling command to spawn the enemy.

The Surtling creature can drop the following materials. Higher level enemies will typically drop higher quantities of each item.

Surtling Battle Strategy

Lure them into Water

The easiest way to kill Surtlings is to lure them into the water. Surtlings die really fast when they are in contact with water (except the rain). Although this is the easiest way to kill them, it is not recommended since they will only drop coal if you do this.

Shoot in between their Attacks

Surtling have a long interval between their attacks. It is recommended that you shoot them with arrows during the long interval between their attacks. This is also possible when using melee weapons since the intervals are long.
