Does Valheim Have Controller Support?

Valheim Has Partial Controller Support

Lucky for controller users. Valheim has partial controller support! Unfortunately, it is just partial support. This means there might be limitations with the controllers and might not detect some controllers. There is also the downside of not being able to map your controls in-game.

How to Use a Controller

Plug and Play

For PlayStation and Xbox controller users you should be able to plug in and the game should recognize the controllers without any fiddling!

Controller Not Working

If there are some issues with the controllers, you may have to check if Steam's controller configurations are on. Go to Steam and select Steam on the upper left, Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings, then select the controller you are using.

How to Map Your Controls

No in-game Mapping

As of now, with only partial controller support, there is no way to map your controls in-game. What you can do is use Steam's controller configuration settings to change your mapping. You can also get other player's controller configs for Valheim if you wish. There may be problems with this method though like the in-game button prompts not changing.
