Launch with Vulkan or Not?

When launching Valheim you can either launch the game normally or launch the game using Vulkan. Most people will be wondering whether to run Valheim on Vulkan or not. Whichever you run can have an affect on the performance on the game depending on your PC!

Should you Launch with Vulkan?

Vulkan Vs Normal

If you have an old PC, or you just want to play with more FPS it might be better to launch Valheim using Vulkan. This will make your GPU perform better and give you a significant FPS boost when playing the game. If you had to choose between running the game on Vulkan vs Normal, its your best bet to just run it on Vulkan!

Another way to do this is to go to the launch options of Valheim and type in force-vulkan.

FPS Boosting Launch Options

True Fullscreen Fix

At the moment of writing this guide, there has been a confirmed bug that makes the fullscreen of Valheim is not true fullscreen, lowering the frames. You can fix this by forcing the game to go into true fullscreen through the launch options.

1 Make sure Valheim is closed.
2 Open Steam library and search for Valheim.
3 Right-click Valheim and open properties.
4 Go to the General tab and paste "-window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen" into launch options.
