What is a Bow

A bow is a ranged weapon that utilizes arrows for ammunition. They deal good damage in the early game, as well as a vital tool to kite monsters within the late game.

Bow Tips and Tricks

Aim the Reticle Above Your Target

This may seem like a no-brainer for obvious reasons but with the Bow in Valheim, you need to adjust it much higher than you think. With how the physics of the game works, aiming the reticle directly at a target from far away is a bad idea.

The arrows, once launched, are pulled downward at a faster rate than other games. The arrow will just hit the ground close to the target and alert it.

Anticipate the Pattern of Moving Targets

Moving targets are difficult to hit, but not impossible. Just aim where you think the target might go, and move your reticle above that.

Never shoot point-blank

Shooting point blank with the bow is a bad idea. The Bow eats up your stamina as you draw an arrow, once your stamina is depleted you will have a hard time dodging melee attacks. Trying to do an early release for the bow does no damage as well, so spamming fire is useless.

Make Sure to Sneak for Extra Damage

Sneaking can be achieved by pressing the Left Ctrl button. Once you are in sneak mode, your shots do more damage due to a stealth bonus. While sneaking, however, always remember to adjust your aim accordingly.

Sneaking makes you crouch, which adjusts your height and can screw up your aim.
