How to Get Coal

Build and Use the Charcoal Kiln

This is by far the best way to get Coal. For a piece of Wood, the Kiln will output 1 Coal. Sweet! It can only hold 25 wood at a time so we suggest you build more than one when you have enough Surtling Cores!

How to Get Required Materials

Deliberately Burn Food in the Cooking Station

This is the way of getting coal in the early game when you do not have Charcoal Kilns yet. However, this method is extremely inefficient because it wastes food. We suggest holding off making plenty of coals until you get a Charcoal Kiln.

If you don't mind using cheats to obtain it, Coal can easily be spawned with the console command.
