Sunken Crypt Tips and Strategy

Valheim - Sunken Crypts
Sunken Crypts are ruined underground dungeons that are usually filled with water and debris. These incredibly dangerous dungeons can only be accessed by unlocking their entrances with a Swamp Key, obtained by defeating The Elder.

Exploring Sunken Crypts for their highly valuable loot takes a bit more preparation than Burial Chambers and Troll Caves.

Bring Poison Resistance Mead

Place the Mead Base in the Fermenter

Aside from Draugrs, Sunken Crypts are also inhabited by poisonous monsters such as Blobs and Oozers. Always bring Poison Resistance Mead with you at all times!

Bring Pickaxes

Valheim (Dungeons) - Muddy Scrap Piles.png

Muddy Pile Scraps can block your path inside Sunken Crypts and can be only destroyed by Pickaxes. These blockades are great sources of Scrap Iron, Leather Scraps, and Withered Bones — Make the most of your time inside these crypts by bringing multiple Pickaxes!

Sunken Crypts are located in the Swamp and can be distinguished by their lit entrances that resemble mausoleums. These entrances can only be unlocked with a Swamp Key from defeating Valheim's second boss, The Elder.

Amber Obtained from chests, dungeons, and buried treasures.
Amber Pearl Obtained from chests, dungeons, and buried treasures.
Ancient Bark Obtained from Ancient Trees in the Swamp biome or from chests inside Sunken Crypts.
Chain Obtained from Wraiths or chests inside Sunken Crypts.
Coins Obtained from chests, dungeons, trolls, and fulings
Leather Scraps Obtained from Boars, Chests, or Muddy Scrap Piles in Sunken Crypts.
Ruby Obtained from chests, dungeons, and buried treasures.
Scrap Iron Mined from Muddy Scrap Piles in Crypt dungeons in Swamp biomes.
Withered Bone Can be mined from Muddy Scrap Piles in Sunken Crypts in the Swamp biome.
Yellow Mushroom Can be gathered from dungeons.
