To take a 1 Star photo of Mantine, go to the Reef (Day) course research-level 1. After passing through a Wailord, you'll find three Mantine interacting with each other. Throw an Illumina Orb at the Mantine on the left and take a close-up shot to achieve 1 Star Diamond.

Hit by a Fluffruit
Repeat the steps on how to take a 1 Star photo of Mantine. But instead of throwing an Illumina Orb, hit it with a Fluffruit. Zoom in on your camera and take a photo of Mantine while it is flinching to achieve 2 Star Diamond.

Giving Pikachu a Ride
For a 3 Star photo of Mantine, go to the Reef (Day) course research-level 2. In the first part of the course, you'll find Sharpedo near a Crystabloom. Light the Crystabloom from afar and a Mantine will appear on the left side. Take a close-up shot of Mantine with Pikachu on its back to achieve a 3 Star Diamond photo.

For a 4 Star photo of Mantine, go to the same area of the course and follow the steps below.
| 1 | Light the Crystabloom near Sharpedo. |

| 2 | Go through the course and light the next Crystabloom near the Whirlpool. |
| 3 | While you are going towards the area where a Wailord appears, look behind you and you'll find Mantine with Pikachu on its back. |
| 4 | Ready your camera and set it to Burst mode 6 photos to take the Diamond pose. Once Mantine flies in the air, zoom in on your camera and take a close-up shot of Mantine for a 4 Star Diamond photo. |

I ran a scan on the Reef (Evening) right between the whirlpool and the Wailords and snapped a shot of Mantine jumping out of the water (they will be swimming in front of you as you approach the Wailords) for 4 stars. I took several photos, and only one of them was 4 stars, so I would recommend taking burst photos set to take 6 so you can get more chances of getting at least one 4 star photo in there.
