You can take this 1 Star photo of Feraligatr on River (Night) at Research Level 1. After riding the first waterfall, take a photo of the sleeping Feraligatr on a fallen tree without interacting with it.

To take Feraligatr's 2 Star photo, start River (Night) at Research Level 2. After passing by the waterfall, look to your left to find a single Feraligatr. Hit it with a Fluffruit and take a photo of its reaction to obtain its 2 Star photo.

Taking Feraligatr's 3 Star photo is similar to its 2 Star photo. Start River (Night) at Research Level 2 and look for the same Feraligatr after passing by the waterfall.
Hit Feraligatr with a Fluffruit and wait for it to crouch and growl. Take a photo of it growling while crouching to take its 3 Star photo.
