A warrior sent on a journey to slay the demon lord said to bring about the world's end. Armed with a holy sword from the angel Samyaza, Artoria's mission turned to tragedy when an act of betrayal cost her the sword's light, and everything else she cherished.

Artoria Story

Bearer of the Holy Sword, Caladbolg

“You're always there for us when we need you, Artoria.”
- Hero of the Staff

Artoria is tasked by the angel lord Samyaza to fight demons threatening the world. She is chosen to wield the holy sword Caladbolg after completing seven trials. While her companions treat the mission like a vacation, Artoria is serious and focused on following the rules. She struggles with the concept of bonds being the source of strength, feeling like an outsider. However, the Hero of the Staff reassures her of her importance to the group, which causes Caladbolg to finally shine.

The group successfully progresses in their mission, but they encounter worlds beyond saving and corrupted witches called acolytes. They face Solomon, an acolyte of an ancient demon, who unleashes a powerful curse. They manage to seal it away, but the Hero of the Staff becomes ill. Artoria desperately wants to use Caladbolg's scabbard to heal him.

Lost Light of the Holy Sword

“If this is all my fault, then I have to be the one who makes it right.”

Elaine, another member of the group, unexpectedly stabs and kills the Hero of the Staff. She then vanishes, taking his body with her. The others insist on continuing the mission, but Artoria is enraged and wants to avenge the Hero. Their disagreement leads to a failed attempt to open a new door, resulting in them being flung into an endless void.

Artoria awakens in the ruins of an unfamiliar world, having survived the fall. She is alone, and Caladbolg has lost its light. Blaming herself for their predicament, she resolves to continue fighting and make things right, believing that Caladbolg exists to protect everyone.

Chapter 1
Demons are trying to destroy the world. So, under the orders of our angel lord, Samyaza, we set out on a journey to stop them. We were given the noble mission of saving the world. Failure was not an option. And yet...Morgana and Elaine were acting like they were on vacation, with the usually serious Myrlennia and Guinevere also in high spirits. Even the two Heroes said they'd rather us have fun than tense up and make mistakes. Bonds are the only power that can stand up to the demons. That's why we were all raised together, just like a family. Because of that, though, we may have gotten a bit too close... Honestly, these people... Looks like it's up to me to get things done around here!

Chapter 1

Demons are trying
to destroy the world.
So, under the orders of
our angel lord, Samyaza,
we set out on a journey
to stop them.

We were given the noble
mission of saving the world.
Failure was not an option.
And yet...Morgana and Elaine
were acting like
they were on vacation,
with the usually serious
Myrlennia and Guinevere
also in high spirits.
Even the two Heroes
said they'd rather us
have fun than
tense up and make mistakes.

Bonds are the only power
that can stand up
to the demons.
That's why we were
all raised together,
just like a family.
Because of that, though,
we may have gotten
a bit too close...

Chapter 2
Before setting out, I conquered Lord Samyaza's seven trials, and was chosen to wield the shining holy sword, Caladbolg. I was the protector who'd cut down evil with swift justice. And yet, Caladbolg never once shone as it should... Bonds are the source of strength. I've always been told I was too serious about rules, though, and never got along with others. But, rules exist to be followed. I know I'm not in the wrong! ...Maybe that's why Caladbolg didn't accept me. For an outsider like me, bonds are... "You're always there for us when we need you, Artoria." That's what the Hero of the Staff told me as those worries were running through my mind. "It's because of how reliable you are, that we can relax and have fun." ...Wait, having fun is the last thing I want you all to do... But, you've actually been watching me, Great Hero... Even if Caladbolg doesn't accept me, if I can do anything for you, I... The next day... a beautiful light started shining from the holy sword.

Chapter 2

Chapter 3
Our journey to crush the demons and save the world was going according to plan. I mean, with the powerful bonds that tied us together, of course it was. But, we also encountered worlds that were beyond saving. Demons were making witches succumb to madness, unleashing Curses that were tearing these worlds apart. And, in many worlds lurked another enemy. Witches corrupted with demonic power—acolytes. Not every acolyte was an enemy... But, the mission given to use by Lord Samyaza eventually turned into a journey to eliminate both the demons and their acolytes.

Chapter 3

Chapter 5

Back in our training days,
when I caught Elaine lazing about,
she said to me...

Chapter 6
"Great Hero, are you alright? If there's anything I can do to help... Oh, you're here too, Elaine. Hmph, some nun you are, sneaking ahead to tend to the Hero first..." "Elaine...what did you just do...? Why did you stab him...in the heart...? Just what the hell are you doing?!" Elaine turned towards me, the look on her face sending chills down my spine. She just killed the Hero of the Staff— the one she loved—with her own hands. And yet...how? How could she have that gentle smile spread across her face...? Then Elaine vanished without a trace, taking the Hero's body with her. I wanted to chase after her, but the others said the mission had to take priority. "Our journey to vanquish the demons and save the world is far from over," they explained. "But...I can't let Elaine go unpunished...I won't! How can I even think about doing that when she killed the Hero in cold blood?! And yet, you say we still have to save the world, even if it means letting that murderer get away?!" We then opened a new "door." But, with our hearts divided, it crumbled to pieces, and we were flung into an endless void.

Chapter 6

"Great Hero, are you alright?
If there's anything I can do to help...
Oh, you're here too, Elaine.
Hmph, some nun you are,

Beyond the "door" was an abyss sprawling below. Falling in means there's no coming back! I have to hurry past the door and...! I can't feel Lord Samyaza's power... Why...? Could it be...? Has our world been destroyed too...? No, impossible... I mean, Lord Samyaza is there! It can't be destroyed, even by the likes of the demons!! Unless...it was by some...god of destruction... I was reeling from disbelief, when someone shoved me from behind... As I fell off the path, down into the abyss, I saw a thin arm reaching out into the void. I woke up to find myself in the ruins of some unfamiliar world. It seemed like a miracle that I survived, but I was all alone... and Caladbolg had lost all its light... ...This is all my fault... I lost sight of the mission, and everyone... ...I have to push forward. Crying won't bring anyone back. If this is all my fault, then I have to be the one who makes it right. After all, the holy sword Caladbolg exists to protect everyone...!

Chapter 7

Beyond the "door"
