The world is so vast, yet why must we witches stay hidden in secret?- Gil'uial
Gil'uial was born in a village of witches, being the youngest to have been born with the ability to use magic. Her village's tradition was to send away those who did not become witches, while those who did become witches would stay. Despite this tradition, however, Gil'uial left her village to see the rest of the world.
In her travels, she met many witches - from those who wanted to live in peace, to those who were mistreated by their neighbors, to those who desired to put up a country for witches and witches only. Gil'uial herself had the idea of putting up a country of witches, though as she traveled, she came to see that it was something that some witches didn't even want.
Heh, to think my most cherished dream could be accomplished with the greatest of ease...- Gil'uial
When she finally returned to her village after her travels, Gil'uial found it in ruins. The village had simply died off due to how well-hidden it was from the rest of the world. In the ruins, she set out to research how to put up a country for witches. But in her research, she found out about the Duke of Fran and how he had taken witches into his care.
Gil'uial sought out The Duke, and saw that he had successfully put up a country where witches could live as witches. She has stayed at the Duke's estate ever since.
Gil'uial is a witch with two sides to her personality: the side where she talks highly about herself, using names like "The Great and Powerful Gil'uial" and other similar monikers to show people her prowess as a witch.
However, there is another, more thoughtful side to her that is at once happy that she has finally found a place she could call home after her long travels, while at the same time worried she might lose it. Still, Gil'uial has shown that she is willing to open her heart to The Duke, as well as the other witches staying under his care.
Chapter 1 |

How about an old story? One of when I, the great Gil'uial, was just born. The place I called home was located on the farthest reaches of Fran. A village created by witches. Needless to say, my mother was also a witch. But soon after giving birth to me, she left, never to return. As you know, just because witch blood doesn't run through one's veins, it doesn't mean one will become a witch. Hence, it's a village custom to exile those who don't become witches. Villagers undergo training until their talents are discerned... Ah...! But, my birth was extraordinary, for I was born with the ability to use magic. Thus, the village witnessed the birth of its youngest witch in history. Gehe! Do you wish to hear what happens next? |
Chapter 2 |
---|
It was tough being as good as I was, and it didn't take long before I proved to be the most adept witch in the village. Driven by my growing curiosity, I, the inquisitive Gil'uial, left the village without even a second thought. Unlike now, there were no Curses to hinder my travels. Hence, I enjoyed the sights of so many countries out there. But at the same time, questions began springing into my mind. The world is so vast, yet why must we witches stay hidden in secret? We possess special powers, yet why must we keep feeling ashamed about them? Questions like those. |
Chapter 3 |
---|
Ever since that day, my travels found their purpose. No more hidden villages. I'll find kindred spirits and build a country where we can live openly as witches... Yes. In a manner of speaking, I, the cunning Gil'uial, was plotting a coup d'état. Gehehe! But you see, the more witches I met, the more it made me realize just how many misconceptions I had. Take for instance, one mighty witch who hid her powers away, and chose a life of peace with her loved ones. When I asked her to explain herself, what she told me was, "You'll understand one day." But the real question is, will I? |
Chapter 4 |
---|
...Ah yes, there was another witch I met. She was living on the outskirts of some village, doing favors for villagers who occasionally visited her. So, I asked her why she bent over backwards for riffraff who'd only come to her when they're in trouble. And you know what she said? "Because I just can't help but love the village I was born in." She must've also known that the villagers feared her though. When old age finally claimed her, those villagers all breathed a collective sigh of relief. That's a sight that I will never, ever, forget. |
Chapter 5 |
---|
There was also a witch who lived hidden away, deep in the forest... One who lived longer than me... Oh! And one who was planning to start a revolution. She was filled with the same zeal I had in my younger days, proclaiming, "I'll build a country for witches!" If we'd met a little sooner, I might've helped her cause. However, even I, the wise Gil'uial, would've clearly understood back then just how foolhardy a revolution was. Not only that, but it wasn't something every witch wished for. So, I tried convincing her to think of another way... But my words just went in one ear and out the other. Since I've caught no wind of any rumors about her thereafter, it means... Well, I'm sure you can figure it out. If she were still alive, I'd like nothing more than to have another chat with her. |
Chapter 6 |
---|
By the time I ended my travels and returned home, I found everything had long since fallen into ruin. Ah, no one was persecuted, or anything of the sort. Simply put, all the villagers just died when age caught up to them. And the village must've been so perfectly hidden away that not a single new face moved in. Even when I was traveling the world seeking compatriots, I met all sorts of witches. Many of whom I could open my heart to... But in the end, they all died and left me behind. To this day...this feeling of loneliness is the one thing I can't ever get used to... Since then, I occupied the village ruins, and began my research. How to wield power, and how to strengthen it. How to hide, and how to fight. Research done by a witch, for all witches out there. If I can't build a country for witches, I thought this research would at least make up for it. ...Ah...it wasn't long after that. I soon learned about you, Duke. |
Chapter 7 |
---|
This place that you've created is the very thing I once tried to build. A country where witches can live as witches... Heh, to think my most cherished dream could be accomplished with the greatest of ease... Hehe... The meaning behind their words are finally becoming clear to me. Duke, I'm sure you can save every witch out there... Even me, and my heart that has since lost its way. So, I ask that you continue showing me those miracles of yours. As long as you allow me to, I, the great Gil'uial, will stay by your side. |
Login 1 | Hm…? Goodness gracious, here comes the Duke to grace us with his presence. Well now, pray tell how you intend on entertaining me today. |
---|---|
Login 2 | Just what were you thinking in making me, the great Gil'uial, wait for your return? Gahaha, oh come now! You visiting me is all that matters. Now then, do tell me what sort of adventures you had while you were away. |
Home 1 | Now then, see to it you're ready for another day of hard work. I, the eagle-eyed Gil'uial shall make myself comfortable here as I keep a veeery close eye on your endeavors. |
Home 2 | Good grief, is your head in the clouds? You can't focus on work. Hmmm…shall we rest and have some tea, then? Ah yes, when you brew mine, make sure it isn't piping hot. My tongue's very sensitive to heat, you see. |
Home 3 | Curious about these rats, are we? I, the desirous Gil'uial, wanted familiars of my own, like those songstress and dancer girls. So I caught these rats intending on training them, but…it's not going well. Ah, not a word of this to your attendant or apprentice handmaiden. I'll never hear the end of it should they find out. |
Home 4 | Hmmm, tired, are we? You won't hear anyone complain should you take a short break. Even if your nap reveals you to have the most idiotic face the world has ever seen, I, the benevolent Gil'uial, shall keep it a secret. |
Home 5 | Heh… You seek to know my age? Hmmm, wery well… I'll make it so none of your questions remain unanswered…if you do whatever I tell you… Gehehe! I'm teasing you. |
Home 6 | Well! If it isn't your birthday! Hehehe, happy birthday. Well, how old are you now? You'd best put candles on your cake while you still can. For once you become the same age as me, the eternal Gil'uial, you'll run out of space to add even the smallest topping. |
Home 7 | I'm glad to see Granny Rosalie's still alive and kicking! Oh, come now - we must respect our elders! Hm? Of course, I, the youthful Gil'uial, am much younger than her. Even my skin's softer! Here... why not touch and see for yourself? Gehe! |
Home 8 | The Witch of the Deep Forest? Hm, indeed... I knew her master. One of the few friends I've ever had. However, how should I put it...? She was far too soft on that apprentice of hers. |
Home 9 | I, the Great Gil'uial, have eternal youth, but I'm not immortal. Even so, I do feel bored for long periods of time... but for those witches with immortality... Goodness... Although witches attain the powers they desire, the divine can be quite cruel indeed... |
Home 10 | Good grief... I was so frightened this would happen, I even distanced myself from others... Wh-What?! No, I wasn't saying anything. You must be hearing voices inside that thick skull of yours. |
Home 11 | My name means, "Star of Twilight" - the star that shines first in the evening sky. From now on, as you make your way through the darkness, place all your confidence in me. No hesitations. No shame. No remorse. Should you lose your bearings, I, the shining Gil'uial, shall keep you on the right path. |
Home 12 | Our farewell is inevitable... I can live one hundred lifetimes, but this is the one thing I can't ever get used to... Hey, would you come with me... and create a few more memories to hold onto? |
Awakening 1 | Gahaha! I'm in the prime of life! |
Awakening 2 | Hmmm... Does this mean I, the powerful Gil'uial, still have a long way to go? |
Awakening 3 | Hey, Duke. Are you fine focusing all your attention on me, the Enchanting Gil'uial? Oh, go on then! It's nothing for me to feel guilty about. Gehe! |
Awakening 4 | This is the first time I've stayed in one place for so long. You should feel some pride in that, for you have the almighty witch Gil'uial under your care. |
Awakening 5 | Now then, Duke... how should I repay this debt I owe you...? Heh, good grief, to make me, the unshakeable Gil'uial, worry about such trivial things, you're quite impressive. If you weren't, however, that would make you unfit to be called the Duke, right? Gehe! Gahahaha! |
Awakening 6 | Duke. Till this moment, you've given me so many offerings. Perhaps it's time you wish for something in return? Gehe... Now, say whatever it is your heart desires. Whisper it... right into my ear. |
Victory | Heh! This comes at no surprise. The almighty Gil'uial is here, after all. |
Defeat | Hm. You see, even I have days like this. My apologies. |
Skill 1 | Leave this to me. |
Skill 2 | Rest for all eternity! |
