“Someday, I, too, want to make a sound just like that...!”- Aine
Aine, a young girl with weak legs, spends most of her early life confined to her home. Her life changes dramatically when her father brings home a harp player. Inspired by the music, Aine finds solace and a sense of freedom. She dreams of one day playing the harp herself. In a village known for its musicians, Aine is invited to join them, but her fear of performing holds her back.
Despite her hesitation, Aine continues to play privately and finds a connection with the distant music. One day, the village's lake mysteriously dries up, casting a shadow over the community. As people lose hope and leave, Aine feels powerless to help. However, a turning point arrives when she hears a song emanating from the dried lakebed, suggesting a potential solution or hope for the future.
“The sound of lament only leaves the world dull, which is why we must play. The notes woven by all— the song of this world.”- Aine
Aine encounters a seemingly wounded fairy above the dried lake.
The fairy, speaking through Aine's mind, reveals that she possesses the power to save the village. However, Aine's self-doubt and fear initially hinder her. It is only after the fairy awakens her inner power that Aine is able to restore the lake, but at a devastating cost.
The lake's resurgence leads to a catastrophic flood, threatening to submerge the entire village. Aine, overcome with guilt and despair, believes she has failed. The fairy offers a dark bargain: Aine can escape her suffering by transferring her pain and sins to the fairy. However, Aine chooses a different path. She decides to embrace her mistakes and use her music to bring hope and healing to the world.
Aine is a strong and kind young woman who stays hopeful despite her physical challenges. She thinks deeply about her actions and reasons. Determined to face her fears, she has a clear sense of purpose. Aine is humble, recognizing her flaws, and she loves music, which comforts and inspires her.
Chapter 1 |
---|
Born with weak legs, I spent much of my early life stuck within the walls of my home. Feeling sorry for my plight, one day, my father brought an esteemed harp player home with him. That moment would change the course of my life forever... The moment I heard the reverberating hum of the harp's strings, the walls around me seemed to change. The fresh scent of sunlit earth and the trill of birdsong... Through its melody, the harp gave me a glimpse of the outside world. This is the power of music. A rhapsody of dreams, giving color to a dull world... Someday, I, too, want to make a sound just like that...! |
Chapter 2 |
---|
This village, called the Village of Musicians, took pride in its beautiful lake, where musicians would always gather to play their songs. I was also invited to play with them, but lacking the courage to perform in front of others, I let fear overtake me and ran away... How could I not? I mean, what if I were to make a mistake...? But, when I played my harp off by myself, I could hear music in the distance. It was as though it were in step But, when I played my harp off by myself, I could hear music in the distance. It was as though it were in step with my own playing. "There's no rush. Come join us when you feel up to it." I felt as if that was what the music was saying. So, I played a melody in turn. "Thank you. Once I muster the courage, I shall join you...” Our separated chords echoed as though in conversation. |
Chapter 3 |
---|
Then, one day... the lake suddenly dried up entirely overnight. Why...did this happen all of a sudden...? From that moment forth, the atmosphere of the village completely changed. Smiles vanished from peoples' faces, and the sound of music could no longer be heard... There were even people who chose to leave the village behind. All I could do was watch them go. After all, how could someone like me do anything to help... It was then that it happened. When I heard a song coming from the dried lakebed. |
Chapter 4 |
---|
Above the dried lake was a seemingly wounded...fairy? Or so it appeared... The ball of light weakly bobbed in the air as if it were alive. What a strange light... But...I cannot help but feel a strange sense of fear when I look at it... Though I know not why the sight of it makes me feel that way... "Let me tell you how to save your village, my dear..." In that moment, the voice of the fairy entered my mind. But...how could I possibly save the village...? "For a special girl like you who can hear my voice, it is possible." "Allow me to awaken the power sleeping within you..." |
Chapter 5 |
---|
Power comes from the heart, and our hearts are full of wishes. If you wish for something strongly enough, your power will surge forth in answer... That was what the fairy told me, but... I lack faith in myself. After all...I can never do anything right... "Everyone wants you to do this. Now, before it is too late...!" Everyone...? As though beckoned to do so, I stretched out my hand towards the fairy. In that instant, something entered my body, and I felt power well up within me. With this, maybe even I can...! The sound of gently flowing water... and the harmony of a warmly drifting breeze rushed into my mind... Please, I beg you! Come back to us...! Strumming my harp as though in prayer, water began to emerge in answer to my song. Th-Thank goodness...! It worked...! But, the next moment, my body suddenly grew heavy. Why is this...? No longer able to stand, water continued to pour into the lake, as though rising to meet me... Before I knew it, the lake... had flooded out far past its shores. |
Chapter 6 |
---|
At this rate, the village shall be completely submerged...! What... What should I do...?! "Were you not the one who yearned for such power?" B-But...I never intended for this to happen...! I just wanted to return the village back to normal... I never thought things would turn out like this...! "This is what your wish has wrought." My wish...made everyone...! I knew I would fail... If it were someone besides me, this never would have happened... "Then, why don't I shoulder everything for you? Your sins, your pain... All you need to do is sleep. Leave everything to me..." "Yes... I shall give all of myself to you, little fairy. That is for the best... No matter how I may try to atone, I shall surely fail, just like always..." But, that very moment, my harp rang out. This sound... I remember! This was the sound I made the first time I ever played the harp... I...do not want to throw anything away...! Not my memories, nor my soul... I do not want to forget any of the feelings music has given me! If my sins, my dreams, and everything else are all born from my heart, I shall shoulder them all. If that is what my heart is, I shall accept everything that I am...! "So, you choose to undergo this trial? No matter. My true target lies elsewhere..." Then...I felt something...leave my body. |
Chapter 7 |
---|
The one who saved me as I drifted unconscious atop the lake was a gentleman from another world. His tone of voice was ever so gentle, and the sound of his heartbeat was calm, like the steady beating of a drum. But, I did not deserve to be saved. After all, I was the one who caused everyone to... If I had only become nothing but bubbles melting into the lapping waves of the lake, that would have made everyone far more... Then, my harp rang out by itself once more. But, it was not my sound. This sound was...the distant encouragement I had always heard from afar— all of the musicians' sound. I began to play my harp in response. Sorry, everyone. I caused all of this... Which is why...I must go. I know not if this shall atone for my sins. But, I also know only languishing in despair solves nothing. That is why I must leave here. Just as music has shown me the world, I shall color this broken world with my song. The sound of lament only leaves the world dull, which is why we must play. The notes woven by all— the song of this world. |
Login 1 | Oh! Um... H-Hello...! Was...there something you needed from me? |
---|---|
Login 2 | Ah...! It... It is nice to see you again after so long. Um... Do you...remember me? O-Oh, I am honored to hear that. I have always lacked a strong presence, and was often forgotten about by others ever since I was young. So, I simply assumed... U-Um, are you...truly sure you are not thinking of someone else? |
Home 1 | I wish I could just disappear like bubbles in the waves... Ah! M-My apologies... I...did not think anyone would be coming to see me... Did you...by any chance...hear what I just said...? |
Home 2 | I first saw this harp when it was about to be thrown out at a shop. I was able to save it after begging the owner to give it to me instead... Unnoticed by anyone its whole life, only to be thrown away in the end... I could not help but feel a kinship with it, so I simply could not let it meet such a fate. |
Home 3 | My legs...have been weak ever since I was born, so I could never venture very far... Perhaps finding me pitiful in such a state, my father invited a harp player to our home to play for me. The performance I saw then was so wonderful, words do not do it justice, like it were truly painting a picture in my mind, and—! Ah...! I...am talking far too much, aren’t I... I apologize... |
Home 4 | Um... If you are feeling tired, I can play a song on the harp for you. I cannot take your exhaustion away, but I can at least help you feel more relaxed... I-If it is not a bother to you, anyway... R-Really...?! Then, close your eyes and listen to this soothing harmony... |
Home 5 | I struggle to talk to others and cannot hold a conversation very long... But, I can at least express myself through music! For example, “Hello,” is a deep, “ Hmmm ,” and “Thank you,” is “Sha-la-la!” Then, “Thank you for everything,” is this harmony here... Did my feelings get across to you? |
Home 6 | Is it...your birthday? I can only play a song for you, but...will you listen? I-If it shall only bother you, I... Huh? You...would love to? Ah...! Th-Then, I shall play something for you right away...and make it full of happy birthday cheer! |
Home 7 | As fragile as a bubble, faint as a fleeting rainbow, and more beautiful than the falling rain... The notes of this harp hum like gentle sighs through the air... Now, let us begin... This tale that shall surely one day find its end... |
Home 8 | I lack a strong presence, so ever since I was a child, there have been many instances where I went unnoticed... Though it has caused me grief at times, it does have its uses. Like...if I ever need to conceal myself. I have full confidence that I would never be found. There is also... No, perhaps that is its only use... My apologies... |
Home 9 | Oh, dear, oh dear...! T-This is quite the predicament...! The Princess suddenly summoned me, saying, “Strum a tune on mine Zivardian strings for me”... But, I am a harp player... I can play other instruments, but when I imagine myself possibly making a mistake...! Ahh... Oh, how I wish I could become a mere bubble and disappear...! |
Home 10 | Once upon a time, there was a mischievous fox who caused nothing but trouble across the land. Many priding themselves on their magic tried to seal her, but not a single one succeeded. But, when a harp player used their harp to play the fox a lullaby, the fox miraculously fell into a doze. While lost in its slumber, the people were finally able to seal the fox away for good... Ever since then, the sound of a harp has been believed to ward against evil. |
Home 11 | Young Asahi is so small, yet so diligent...and Miss Tama carries herself with such pride... What? I, too, shine in my own way...? Th-That cannot possibly be...! But, for someone such as yourself to say as much, I feel like I can truly believe it to be so... Thank you... |
Home 12 | When I was overtaken by that demon, the reason I was able to fight off its possession was all thanks to this very harp. This little one made me remember my sound...the sound from the first time I ever played a harp. It brought my heart back to the light right before it could fall prey to the darkness... Hehe... Yes, my friend, let the two of us play together long into the future. |
Awakening 1 | How strange... I can hear a new tone all around me... |
Awakening 2 | Time and time again...the light pouring from you casts its rays upon my heart... |
Awakening 3 | I can hear a gentle rhythm matching the beating of your heart... This is your sound... A fitting tone for such a warm, compassionate soul as yours. |
Awakening 4 | Thank you... Um, will you continue to keep your eye on me...? So I do not spread any more suffering...or become a witch tainted by evil, I implore you... Please, watch over me... |
Awakening 5 | Everyone here tells me I have a strong heart... But...I still lack faith in myself... It changes not the result of my falling for a demon’s words, nor the fact that I brought my own home to ruin... All of my regrets are exactly why I wish to become strong... Strong enough to feel pride in the tone of my own heart... |
Awakening 6 | Your light which brought me back from the dark...and the sound of the musicians from my village, which rang out as though to push me forward... I shall never forget that kindness. If knowing pain is the very thing that makes one able to play songs of hope...I shall color the world in my sound... There it will meet the music born from the crossing of many hearts—the people’s symphony of peace. |
Victory | Was I...able to be of any use? |
Defeat | Oh... How I wish I could just be a bubble and disappear... |
Skill 1 | Oh, melody of the night’s abyss... |
Skill 2 | Play, ayre of eternity... |
