The Circus Is In Town!

After being abandoned by her parents for being a witch, Cordie immediately found herself being taken in by a circus troupe. She didn't know why they took her in. They knew Cordie was a witch, but they didn't mind at all. But in her heart, she knew the reason; they were fellow outcasts, society's rejects. And that was why they felt like a family.

Initially, Cordie couldn't perform at all. She tried many roles ranging from being a clown to a beast master. But try as she might, she couldn't learn the ropes well enough to go on stage. She did, however, eventually discovered what truly fit her—being a trickshot artist. Pretty soon, she had become popular enough that she could have fans. Cordie was at the peak of her life.

Until the Witches' Curses fell.

When the Witches' Curses started decimating the continent, Cordie's circus troupe gradually fell off. Nobody had time to appreciate their performances anymore. What's worse, Cordie would sometimes see her fans, whom she recognized as those who would cheer for her from the stands, as cold bodies in ruined villages.

The time of performance arts was over. Nobody would cheer for her anymore, and Cordie, believing that, lost her way and sunk into existential dread.

Then, one day, they suddenly encountered a group of refugees chased by a monster. Ignoring her troupe's desperate pleas, Cordie used her magic and shot the creature dead. But instead of being thrown to the Church of Longinus, the people she saved exploded into cheer. It was like being back on the stage again.

It was then that Cordie realized what she had to do. To bring smiles to the people once again and experience their thunderous applauses, Cordie had to face the curse herself.

Cordie Personality

Cordie is a very outspoken and energetic girl who prides herself on her marksmanship. She loves to show it off and doesn't mind performing for crowds, regardless of the time and location. This love for the spotlight stems from her desire to spread happiness around her, a nature she developed during her time as a circus performer.

Straightforward and resolute yet mischievous and turbulent, Cordie can be described as a bright ray of sunshine. Whether by performing trick shots or playfully teasing others, one can always be sure that Cordie is out there providing excitement.

Chapter 1
What led me to learn I had become a witch...? I have no clue. Before I knew it, I had been abandoned... and before I knew it, I had been taken in. A traveling circus just happened to be in town. Lively voices poured out from inside the flashy tent. It was so strange... seeing people go in and out with bright smiles on their faces. After having stood outside for the entire performance, the circus troupe took me in as one of their own. That is pretty much the first thing I remember. Yes. My entire life began with the circus.

Chapter 1

What led me to learn I had become a witch...?
I have no clue.

Before I knew it, I had been abandoned...
and before I knew it, I had been taken in.

A traveling circus just happened to be in town.
Lively voices poured out from inside the flashy tent.

It was so strange... seeing people go in and out
with bright smiles on their faces.

After having stood outside for the entire
performance, the circus troupe took me in
as one of their own.

That is pretty much the first thing I remember.
Yes. My entire life began with the circus.

Chapter 2
The troupe found out pretty quickly that I was a witch, but they didn’t mind. Because while they may not have been witches themselves, they, too, were the black sheep of the lot. I started out as an assistant, and before long, they gave me a test to see what my act would be. I was a clown, a trapeze artist, a beast master...but, I kinda sucked at everything. The only thing I was good at... were these girls—my pistols. I lived a pretty happy life after that. All while concealing the fact that I was a witch from the audience, of course.

But, I didn’t need to use any of them. Because no one called the Knights. Instead, people erupted with cheers of gratitude. They were happy. They were smiling. ...Ahh, I see. I love the thundering applause and happy faces of the audience more than anything in the whole world. With this power of mine... maybe I’ll be able to bring that happiness back to them. ...That’s when I decided— to go on an adventure.

Chapter 6

Leaving my tears as they are, I make my way out of the tent one stride at a time. The lively voices of everyone illuminating my way. Chapter 1
I just love festivals. I can't get enough of the noise, laughter, and of course, everyone's sights locked onto my circus troupemates and me! There's a festival in a city famous for art. It was apparently started by musicians as a ritual ceremony to mourn the dead. But nowadays, it's become more like an annual music festival, with hundreds of visitors coming from all over to see it. The streets are alive with traveling entertainers and dancers. It's a festival that can only be experienced in this city of art. How can I not join in on the fun! Right now, my circus troupemates aren't here with me, but I'm more than enough to put on a show that'll set the place on fire!

Chapter 1

I just love festivals.

I can't get enough of the noise, laughter,
and of course, everyone's sights locked
onto my circus troupemates and me!

There's a festival in a city famous for art.
It was apparently started by musicians as
a ritual ceremony to mourn the dead.

But nowadays, it's become more like

The streets are alive with
traveling entertainers and dancers.
It's a festival that can only be

Chapter 2
I quickly head to the city square and see traveling acrobats putting on a show. Watching them were children with bright smiles on their faces. Then, as I was about to ask the acrobats if I could join them, something happened. "Enough with the noise. This is a ritual ceremony, damn sinners." When that elderly man came out of the crowd and said that, the music came to a complete stop, and the smiles disappeared from the children's faces. Wait, didn't Vera say something about this? I think she said, while this event's more like a music festival nowadays, one of the elderly thinks otherwise, and causes an uproar every year. And, the ritual ceremony should be held quietly to mourn the dead, so making noise will incur the wrath of the dead, or something... "It's absolutely ridiculous how vulgar acrobatics are. Get that filth out of my city!" After saying that, the elderly man swung his cane around, causing everyone around him to clear out and leave.

Chapter 2

I quickly head to the city square and see

I called out to a young boy crouching down in a corner, and he had a look of surprise when we exchanged glances. As he sobbed, he spoke to me. "I just came to watch all the shows... but...the wrath of the dead..." That's all I could make out. Hmmm... Maybe the uproar just now scared him? But, he wasn't the only one who was shaken up. Everyone was... Even that elderly man... Alright. Guess I'm up! If the ringmaster found out that I let an audience go home with gloomy faces, he'd definitely give me an earful. Gather 'round! The world's greatest gunslinger's special show is about to begin!

Chapter 3

"The wrath of the dead... It's real." Someone said the words that fanned the flames of everyone's anxiety, and the fog started to thicken in response. The smiles started to fade away... one by one. I wonder what my circus troupemates would do at a time like this... They'd probably say, "Let's put on a show that'll make everyone smile so hard, they'll forget whatever they were worrying about." Fun memories are precious, and I won't let any scary ones take them away. That's why...! "Alright, everyone! All eyes and ears on me!"

Then, the elderly man came to me with an awkward look on his face, and spoke to me. "I apologized for my actions earlier. I hate outsiders, and I wasn't in the best mood, but your show really made my day." I finally put a smile on his face. Soon after, fireworks shoot into the sky, soothing the spirits of the dead, and bringing the festival to a close. ...I'll do my best so the smiles we see here don't ever fade away. with an awkward look on his face,
and spoke to me.

"I apologized for my actions earlier.
I hate outsiders,
and I wasn't in the best mood,
but your show really made my day."

I finally put a smile on his face.

Soon after, fireworks shoot into the sky,
soothing the spirits of the dead,
and bringing the festival to a close.
