A girl from a village on the Galia-Adria border, and childhood friend of Rean, Skuld, and Priscilla. She takes after her father and becomes a soldier, but accidentally reveals a secret that destroys her village. Zara is a soldier of few words, but deep down is a sweet girl who cherishes her friends.

Zara Story

Sisters By Choice

When the flames of war make their way here... how am I supposed to protect these two?

Zara's father died when she was very young. The only memory she has of him is how he used to softly pet her on the head with his big hands. The country they reside in has been in war for as long as Zara can remember.

Her grandmother told stories of how he used to be a soldier and that he died bravely on the battlefield. Zara's sickly mother fell ill upon hearing about her spouse's death, and was hospitalized in the capital ever since.

Zara had three childhood friends—the energetic Rean, the quiet Priscilla, and the slightly older foreigner Skuld. The four would form a tight sisterly bond over the years.

One day, Skuld left the village, and Zara's mother and grandmother had passed around this time as well. After all these years, the war goes on, and Zara wondered what she could do to protect the people she loves from the flames of war. She remembered the big hand of her military father petting her, and she figured it out. She'll be a soldier just like her father.

A Haunting War Story

...with sword in hand, I hacked and slashed... refusing to stop until I had slaughtered every last one of them.

After finishing military training, Zara was officially a soldier. She was assigned to a platoon led by an aristocrat. Zara thought that she had finally found her life's purpose.

One day, her commander called for her and asked about any legends passed down in her hometown. She said that the town was said to have been founded by a witch. She initially thought it was a weird question, but by the time she actually realized what it's for, it was already too late.

She arrived home to be greeted by mountains of dead bodies of her people. Fueled with rage and armed with her sword, Zara went on a frenzy and slaughtered every single troop around. The last man standing was her commander. She asked why he would do such an unspeakable act. The commander revealed that he was a part of a cult that worshipped a witch, and that they still loathe the ones that escaped with the witch from ages ago. Zara's village are the descendants of these ones the cult was after.

After searching the now ruined village, Zara couldn't find the bodies of her best friends. She now basks in regret of not being able to protect her home, but is also now on a mission to reunite with her childhood friends.

Zara Personality

Zara is an extremely protective young woman who joined the military in hopes of protecting her beloved village from the terrors of war. She is also quite powerful, as she singlehandedly took down the entire military force that had slain the people of her hometown.

Zara Relationships

Zara's father - A soldier who died in the battlefield. He is the reason why Zara thought of joining the military.
Zara's mother - Fell sick after hearing of her spouse's death. Died in the hospital with her only seeing Zara once or twice a year.
Zara's grandmother - Took care of Zara when she was a kid, since both her parents were incapable of doing so.
Rean, Priscilla, and Skuld - Zara's best friends since childhood. The four formed a sisterly bond over the years.

Chapter 1
All I remember about my father is the feeling of his big hand softly petting my head. My grandmother told me that he was a soldier...and that he died in battle. Yes. Since the day I was born, this country has been in a constant state of war. On the border, in a village said to have been founded by a witch, I was born and raised by my grandmother. When my sickly mother heard of my father's death, she collapsed, and has been hospitalized in the capital ever since. I'm only able to visit her once or twice each year. Despite that though, it's thanks to those three that I never succumbed to loneliness.

Chapter 1

All I remember about my father is the feeling
of his big hand softly petting my head.

My grandmother told me that
he was a soldier...and that he died in battle.

Yes. Since the day I was born, this country
has been in a constant state of war.

On the border, in a village said to have been
founded by a witch, I was born and raised
by my grandmother.

When my sickly mother heard of
my father's death, she collapsed,
and has been hospitalized
in the capital ever since.

I'm only able to visit her
once or twice each year.

Despite that though, it's thanks to those three
that I never succumbed to loneliness.

Chapter 2
I have three childhood friends. Two have the same peach colored hair— the energetic Rean, and the quiet, gentle Priscilla. And the third is a slightly older girl that came from outside the village—Skuld. The ever knowledgeable Skuld taught Priscilla and I about a variety of things. Rean and I always used to chase after one another too. The four of us would go exploring in the forest...and then get scolded by Skuld's sisters. It may have only been a few years... but we felt like the closest of sisters.

Chapter 2

I have three childhood friends.

Two have the same peach colored hair—
the energetic Rean,
and the quiet, gentle Priscilla.
And the third is a slightly older girl that
came from outside the village—Skuld.

The ever knowledgeable Skuld taught
Priscilla and I about a variety of things.
Rean and I always used to chase after
one another too.

The four of us would go exploring
in the forest...and then get scolded by
Skuld's sisters.

It may have only been a few years...
but we felt like the closest of sisters.

Chapter 3
Skuld left the village and a few years passed. In that time, both my mother and grandmother passed away, and I was left with Rean and Priscilla. The war continued. When the flames of war make their way here... how am I supposed to protect these two? I was reminded of that big warm hand on my head. ...Father... I went and knocked on the doors to the Officers Academy. That was the only way I could think of to protect them. Having finished training, I was assigned to the troop that was under the direct command of an aristocrat. It seemed the life of a soldier suited me.

Chapter 3

Skuld left the village and a few years passed.

In that time, both my mother
and grandmother passed away,
and I was left with Rean and Priscilla.

The war continued.
When the flames of war make their way here...
how am I supposed to protect these two?

I was reminded of that big
warm hand on my head.
...Father...

I went and knocked on the doors
to the Officers Academy.
That was the only way I could think of
to protect them.

Having finished training,
I was assigned to the troop that was
under the direct command of an aristocrat.

It seemed the life of a soldier suited me.

Chapter 4
That day, my commander—the aristocrat that stood at the top of our group— called me to his headquarters. "Are there any legends passed down in your hometown?" I thought it a strange question, but answered nonetheless. "My hometown is said to have been founded by a witch." My village was attacked by the troop a few days later. That's right...! I told the commander—! When I realized it, it was too late. When I rushed to the village, my eyes were greeted by smoky pillars of flames, dead bodies piled on top of one another, and soldiers, crudely laughing at it all. their weapons at the ready.
It seems I'm the last survivor.

Ahh... In the end, I can't protect anything...!

Chapter 5
My blood boiled with anger and remorse. So with sword in hand, I hacked and slashed... refusing to stop until I had slaughtered every last one of them. The last one standing was the commander.
