If that was the only thing I could cling to, I had no choice but to grasp it for dear life.-Eir
Eir's life was shattered when the Inquisition stormed their mountain hideaway, killing her grandfather and taking her sister hostage. Forced to become a witch hunter to save her sister, Eir embarked on a morally agonizing path, taking the lives of six innocent witches in exchange for her sister's supposed freedom. Each kill chipped away at her humanity, but her sister's brief, hopeful letters fueled her determination. However, upon completing the grim task, Eir discovered a horrifying truth: the letters were a lie, her sister likely dead from the start.
If that girl so wishes, I will gladly forfeit my life to her.- Eir
Consumed by grief and fury, she turned the tables on the Inquisition, sparing the final witch's younger sister and gunning down the manipulative Inquisitor. Now, riddled with guilt and clinging to a sliver of redemption, Eir vows to protect the orphaned witch, the last remaining family of both of them. Haunted by her bloody deeds and yearning for a nonexistent God's mercy, Eir embarks on a desperate mission to shield the innocent girl and dismantle the very organization that orchestrated her descent into darkness.
Eir is a soul burdened by the weight of a traumatic past. Stoic and self-sufficient, she's adept at handling herself in harsh environments. Her hunting background has made her sharp and observant. Despite her gruff exterior, Eir is haunted by the loss of her family, particularly her sister. This loss fuels a deep sense of guilt and a yearning to redeem herself.
While wary of forming attachments, Eir craves connection and finds solace in her bonds with others. Initially driven by vengeance, her purpose has evolved. Now, she is determined to protect the innocent and dismantle the organization that destroyed her life.
Chapter 1 |

Freshly spilled blood spread in slow waves, its heat melting the fallen snow. Insulated by his overcoat, my grandfather's corpse was still warm. From his thin frame, a trail of white smoke floated up from the bullet hole shot into his back seconds before. "Now... You'll be coming with us." That was the declaration the Inquisition imparted to me. When I looked back, my little sister was staring at me with horror-stricken eyes, a blade held to her neck. Now, only one path lay before me. "...Please. At least...spare my sister." Killing all emotion in my voice, I gave that single request. In place of a response, the Inquisitor's lips only curled into a sadistic smirk. |
Chapter 2 |
---|
My family lived in hiding deep within the snowy mountains. For my sister and I, who had become witches, living deep in the forests of the desolate mountains provided the perfect hiding place. I learned how to survive as a hunter from my grandfather... and the laws of nature. In order to live, we must sacrifice the lives of others. Even if that means... taking the lives of the innocent. On the list I'd been given, there were six witches' names— the lives I was to take in exchange for my sister's. If I killed those six witches, my sister would be returned to me. That's what the Inquisition had told me. |
Chapter 3 |
---|
A letter arrived from my sister. The dried ink of the typewriter penned a cruelly brief message. "I'm alright. Please don't worry." That was all it said. Right on schedule, the fifth of its kind. A letter arrived for each witch I killed. I hadn't gotten to see her even once since that day. But, even so... This was the single thread of hope I had left. It was hope entangled in misery. But, no matter how thin a thread it may be... If that was the only thing I could cling to, I had no choice but to grasp it for dear life. The final target. I took aim as I always did... and pulled the trigger. Then, I approached her body... to ensure the deed was done. However, a pair of shaking legs blocked my path. My eyes met with ones welling with tears. Trying to shield my final target... was a young girl. |
Chapter 4 |
---|
"Please... Don't hurt my sister...!" Hearing the anguished cry, the gravely wounded witch desperately tries to rouse her body. "No... Save yourself..." Her voice is hoarse. She's likely already beyond saving. Stuck immobile in place, the witch looks at me with pleading eyes. "Please...I beg of you. At least...spare my sister..." —Nnnrgh...! I couldn't help but see my own desperation reflected in her. What I'm doing now... is exactly what those scum did to me... But...there's no other path I can take... This is the only way...to save my sister...! —I pulled the trigger. Her head jerked back with a snap, and as though the thread of her life had been severed, her body lied as still as a ragdoll. In a state of shock, the girl squeaked out a small cry. "Big Sis...!" I ran away as fast as I could. I...couldn't take any more... |
Chapter 5 |
---|
In the forest at the rendezvous point. Awaiting the crunch of my footsteps in the snow was the sound of a single gunshot. Magic energy radiates from the bullet that just shot into the wall behind me. My opponent is a witch. "You did well. But, your job ends here." As though lurking in the surrounding shadows, the voice of an Inquisitor also reaches my ears. In that moment, everything became clear. I had served my purpose. In other words...my sister was already... No... She's probably been dead from the start...! If... If i just made it through the list... they said they'd give my sister back to me...! Ahh, I... What...have I...?! I don't want to remember what happened after that. After shooting the legs of the fleeing Inquisitor, all I know is that I shot countless rounds into his skull as he begged for mercy. When I came to, before my eyes lied the gun-wielding witch collapsed on her side. She had lost consciousness, but her wounds were shallow, and she was still breathing. Thank goodness... —I didn't want to have any more witches' blood on my hands... |
Chapter 6 |
---|
Freshly spilled blood—my blood— spread in slow waves, its heat melting the fallen snow. With the remainder of my fading consciousness, I attended to the collapsed witch's wounds. From her inner pocket, I found a list of orders and a letter. The letter was scrawled with a simple message from a sender called, "Mother." It was just as I'd feared. She was being used... exactly as I had been. That must mean... the most important person to this girl was also...already... According to the list, the girl's next target after me... wasn't a witch. Her target was the Duke of Fran— a man who saves witches and fights together with them against the Church. I see... So there's still something I can do. Something I must do. The Church's Inquisition— the perpetrators of my deception... The ones...who had murdered my grandfather...and my sister...! I'll hunt each and every one of them down. Holding on to my steadily waning consciousness with my welling anger as fuel, I headed into the forest's depths step by limping step. The trail of my footprints was slowly covered by the snow falling overhead. |
Chapter 7 |
---|
The Duke's mansion...was where I found her. The little sister...of the final witch I had killed. I don't know when she first arrived. But, it seems she's told the others that she'd come here looking for me. If that girl so wishes, I will gladly forfeit my life to her. But...until then...I must protect her. I will do so...until she chooses to enact her revenge. I'm sure...God doesn't exist. But...if there is someone looking down on us... Please, protect her. At least let me, who couldn't even save my own sister...save that girl. I know that it's selfish, and I'm sure... she doesn't want this from the likes of me... But...even so... ...I beg you... |
Login 1 | I knew you would be here soon. I could hear your footsteps. |
---|---|
Login 2 | Huh... You came back sooner than I expected. Yes, I've been waiting here the whole time... What of it? |
Home 1 | Now then, let's set out for today. My ammo and traps are all ready to go. |
Home 2 | In the past...when my grandfather first started teaching me, I quite liked hunting. Our main targets were wild ducks or hares, but there were also times where we'd hunt prey as big as bears. |
Home 3 | I know that girl is targeting me. At the end of all this, I intend to forfeit my life to her...if she so wishes. |
Home 4 | Hey... Are you getting enough sleep? You look tired... Oh, I know. There's this trick I use to stay awake when hunting prey over multiple days... Want me to teach it to you? First, place this knife against your foot and–Huh? You're okay without knowing? I see... |
Home 5 | There's no need to give me any special treatment. Use that time to help the other girls here. |
Home 6 | It's your birthday, isn't it? Happy birthday. You should go celebrate with everyone. I... Sorry. If I was there, I'm sure no one would be able to enjoy their cake. I'll, uh, drop your present off later. |
Home 7 | I like the snow. It takes me back... Sat in front of the fire, time slowly drifting by as I'd listen to the firewood crackling in the wood stove... Every once in a while, exchanging words with my little sister or grandfather... Those moments were my peace. |
Home 8 | Just like that girl...I'm sure there are many witches out there who despise me. I bet there's even some here... But, don't worry. I won't let my issues affect you. If I suddenly disappear one day, I'm sorry. |
Home 9 | My little sister... was so full of life, and as bright as the fun. She was an adorable, purehearted child... When I'd braid her hear, she'd get a little embarrassed. Bust whenever I didn't, she'd beg me until I did... Aah.. I should have spent more time with her when I had the chance... |
Home 10 | Hey, can I borrow the kitchen? some of the younger girls were hungry, so I caught a rabbit to cook stew for them... Don't worry, I've made this for my little sister hundreds of times. |
Home 11 | My life could be taken at any moment and I would have no regrets... That's what I had thought, but... now, there's something I want to do before I go. At least until this is over, I... want to protect that girl. Heh, it really is selfish of me, isn't it. |
Home 12 | I keep warning everyone that it's best not to get too close to me, but.. they all cling to me anyway. It makes me happy. But, I... I'm sorry. I can't quite get the words out... Hey... Why couldn't we have met sooner...? |
Awakening 1 | Thanks. It feels like... my eyes have gotten even sharper. |
Awakening 2 | I'm saving my last bullet...for when my time comes. |
Awakening 3 | My current rifle...works just fine as is. I have no need for a scope, anyway. If any light reflected off it, it could give away my location, after all... |
Awakening 4 | I...wonder if I can become your silver bullet. Or, perhaps... |
Awakening 5 | I don't want anymore people to suffer the same fate as me... I know it won't be easy... But, if I can save even one soul from this pain, then I'll have at least served a purpose here. |
Awakening 6 | I will hunt them down... Your enemies, my enemies, and everyone else's. Even if it the end... I need to turn that bullet on myself. I'll do whatever it takes. |
Victory | We won. I'm glad. |
Defeat | Please... You must live... |
Skill 1 | May it only take one shot... |
Skill 2 | Weaving bullet–hit your target! |
