The first thing you'll need to focus on is a single unit that you'll dedicate to be the team's main source of damage. DPS is the archetype that focuses on this role and they can output high amounts of damage given they are able to capitalize on their card mechanics and traits.
Every Combatant in the game has a different style of gameplay and needs. Some DPS relies on getting combo pieces in hand while others require you to trigger attacks so they can execute their follow ups which are their main source of damage. Understand what every character needs before considering other units to add to your team.

The next step would be to choose 1-2 characters that will play around the DPS' main gimmick. For example, a unit like Renoa likes to gain as much Dirge Bullet so consider getting units that can draw cards or get her cards from your draw pile into your hand. Also consider units that can discard cards as this will let Renoa trigger her bullets while using a different character's card.
The last piece is a unit that can still cover a unit's needs while providing a way to fend off enemy aggression. Units that can shield can let you reduce damage taken in a turn or a unit like Mika that can heal damage taken while providing extra AP will work well as a defensive support unit.

Kayron |

Khalipe
|
Support Needs: Units with 2 Cost Cards or AP generator to activate Khalipe's Heaven cards as well as card draw to gain more Vulture Ejections in hand.
|
Khalipe is a powerhouse that provides shields to block enemy hits while also “passively” activating her damage tools by utilizing other characters or her own 2-cost cards as activators for her Vulture Ejection.

Mei Lin
|
Support Needs: Card draws and additional passion cards to further increase her combo count. Mark also lets other units provide more damage during Mei Lin's combo
|
Mei Lin is a combo unit that can further extend her hit count by using more passion cards. Due to this numerous amount of hit counts, sub DPS units that can apply mark can further extend her damage output to obliterate high HP targets.
AP generators are also great to have to ensure that Mei Lin and other passion units like Selena can use their passion cards to help Mei Lin's combo game.

|---|---|
Kayron
|
Support Needs: AP generators and units that have card draw or built in ways to exhaust other cards or their own cards.
|
Kayron is a ramping DPS or a multi-hit DPS depending on epiphanies you choose during your runs. You'll want support units that can help you exhaust bad cards as well as Futility cards to activate Kayron's bonuses either by activating Futility exhaust mechanics or activating Kayron's main damage card's conditions to increase their damage or lower their cost.
Beryl |
Tressa |
Maribell
|
| Character | Team Members |
|---|---|
Beryl
|
DPS Needs: Units that require card draws, AP hungry units that prefer to use their own cards rather than Beryl's own charged cards.
|
Beryl is a Sub-DPS that's focused on not dishing out big damage per turn but rather, providing card draws to the team while enhancing her own cards with retain effect to make their effects easier to use after exhausting your main DPS' cards.
| Character | Team Members |
|---|---|
Tressa
|
DPS Needs: Units that require card draws, AP hungry units that prefer to use their own cards rather than Beryl's own charged cards.
|
Tressa's main gimmick is being able to use multiple 0-cost cards to trigger attacks on enemies. This works well with units that wants other units to attack to trigger their own mechanics such as Hugo and Selena. She also works well with units that wants exhaust mechanics to activate their own effects such as Kayron's cards and Futility gameplan.
| Character | Team Members |
|---|---|
Maribell
|
DPS Needs: Units that rely on shield activation as well as counters. She also works well with units that have Celestial as she can easily apply additional costs to her cards via Epiphanies.
|
Maribell is a counter-focused shielder that works well with other units that rely on the same mechanics to enhance their defense-focused playstyle. She can also up her lower her own card costs to play around the heaven mechanic or lower it to work well with a balanced AP team.
The best support characters provide powerful buffs to their teammates. Their role is to keep DPS allies alive and boost their damage, ensuring each turn is used efficiently.
Mika |
Cassius |
Rei |
| Character | Team Members |
|---|---|
Mika
|
DPS Needs: AP Hungry units. She can also function as a healer in a damage-focused team composition.
|
Mika is not just a heal-focused unit. Mika's main support playstyle involves around using low cost cards that provide heals while generating waves and AP for the team. This lets her function as one of the best support units for characters that require a lot of AP usage in their kit.
| Character | Team Members |
|---|---|
Cassius
|
DPS Needs: Units that require specific cards to execute their damage combos as well as a DPS or team comp that can use a lot of cards to further his quest card upgrade.
|
Cassius main identity is a damage-dealing card cycler that uses several low cost cards to passively generate value to the team by providing buffs, heals, card draws, and card fetch to quickly cycle through your deck and getting combo pieces to your hand.

DPS Needs: Units capable of hitting multiple times while also benefitting from card fetch/draws, exhaust/deck thinning.
|
Rei's main identity as a support is not by providing healing and more on thinning out your deck with exhaust while providing damage buffs via basic damage buffs, 1 card cost buffs, and morale buffs. This makes her an indespensible unit for characters with low damage modifiers on their cards.
