Chaos Mode Explained
Chaos Mode is the roguelike game mode in Chaos Zero Nightmare (CZN). Learn more about Chaos Manifestation and Zero System with this guide!

Chaos Mode Explained

Roguelike Game Mode

Chaos Mode Run
Chaos Mode is the roguelike game mode in Chaos Zero Nightmare, and is what makes the game unique in the gacha genre. You need to form a team of 3 and take on stages full of challenges and random events.

It is also possible to roll dice during random events to successfully proceed with an action. Using the right characters for specific Dice Roll Effects will greatly help with these rolls.

Deck and Character Building Method

Save Data Deck
As you progress to higher levels, the Chaos Mode introduces you to building your characters' decks. It is common for Unidentified Areas to offer card epiphanies, which are essential for deck building.

Getting these events and getting the epiphanies you want are completely random, so it will take some time to get decent runs. It is recommended to focus mainly on using the Zero System to build your decks since it offers better save data values.

You encounter Chaos Manifestation early on in the Main Story, and serves as your introduction to Chaos Mode. It teaches you the basics of going through Chaos and shows you the different kinds of stages.

You can unlock 6 different Chaos Areas as you progress through the story missions:

  1. The Blue Pot
  2. Twin Star's Shadow
  3. City of Mist
  4. Swamp of Judgement
  5. The Foretold Ruin
  6. Laboratory 0 (Season 1: Forbidden Catalyst)

Each area has their own unique set of available Unidentified Areas, Equipment, and Enemies for you to encounter.

Zero System

Chaos Three Choices

The Zero System features the same mechanics Chaos Manifestation has, but with more debuffs and effects that make your runs more difficult to complete. You have the option to take on a generated Chaos run called a Codex that suits the strengths of your current team.

There is also the addition of Chaos Orbs, which is the currency used for purchasing upgrades. However, note that these upgrades do not cross over to Chaos Manifestation.
