Shadow Reload

Tressa's best build focuses on generating a 3 or more Shadow Daggers after every use of a healing card which fuels Cassius' Triple 0 Quest to generate a lot of beneficial cards such as draw, morale buffs or more attack cards to help stack more agony. This build is perfect for single-target bosses especially against damage reduction buffs because agony can bypass it.

She is best suited with the 4/2 set consisting of Offering of the Void and Black Wing to further enhance the damage of her Shadow Daggers and Agony. While her favored chaos zone is Laboratory 0 to get her best equipment such as Foggy Crystal Ball for 0-cost attack card buffs. WIngs of Freedom for more damage after getting hit and Emblem of an Exceptional Entity to get more damage amount on all of her attack cards.

Sub DPS Support
Cassius Cassius Mika Mika

Mika has plenty of healing cards that can help generate Tressa's Shadow Daggers after she uses her upgraded Shadow Reload card. It's best to do a Chaos run for her so you can include more of her unique healing cards.

Cassius can do the work of Rei where he can provide high amounts of Morale buff after quest completion, able to heal using Triple 1's, cycle through your deck with his Full House, Devil Dice or Shuffle and inflict a ton of scaling damage with Triple 0's that also helps stack Agony when Curse is online.

Character Explanation
Rei Rei Can replace Cassius/Mika as a Sub-DPS/Support so that Tressa's Shadow Daggers can deal a lot of damage alongside her Vital Attack card.
Nia Nia Can replace Cassius as a Support thanks to her having more heal cards in her kit and her Decibel mechanic for more damage each time a shuffle occurs.
Hugo Hugo Hugo can replace Cassius as a Sub-DPS for extra damage from his Commence the Hunt mechanic each time Tressa uses her Shadow Daggers.

The most important card to get is Shadow Reload with the Epiphany upgrade, which changes its effect to create a Shadow Dagger whenever someone uses a skill card with heals. You should also aim to duplicate this card during your Chaos runs, allowing you to generate more than one Shadow Dagger per healing card used.

Unsheathe Dagger is a strong addition, especially after upgrading it through Epiphany, which lowers the cost to 0. The epiphany that increases the number of Shadow Daggers created from two to three upon use is also an alternative option. Tressa’s Curse card is also useful, as it increases Agony stacks when any attack cards are used on enemies, amplifying the Agony damage they take.

While Vital Attack should be the epiphany that increases Agony Damage for 1 turn. Our goal in this build is to make Tressa increase her Agony damage as much as possible and this is the perfect epiphany for her. Do note that multiple copies will prolong the turn duration of the Agony damage, not increase its damage.

On Quest completion, create 1 Quest Card(s)

Most of the Epiphany cards you’ll want to prioritize come from Mika, as many of her unique skills also provide healing. Blessing of Waves, which generates a shield, is a must-have since you’ll likely reach the enemy’s attack phase due to the number of Shadow Daggers you’ll be using. Source of Water, which also provides a stack of wave, is another essential pick as it can also contribute to her giving your party more AP.

Cassius must get the epiphanies for Pop Eyed Popper that lets you choose what quest it is and Dice Trick that creates a random quest card after quest completion otherwise the build will not work.

Alternative Budget Partner

Partner Explanation
Eloise Eloise Eloise straight up grants a +10% attack card damage bonus. When Tressa uses a Shadow Dagger, her subsequent Shadow Daggers gain a 12% attack card damage increase for one turn. This is great if you want to focus more on dealing more Shadow Dagger damage rather than Agony damage.

・Damage Over Time
(at least 30%)
・Attack
・Critical Chance %
・Critical Damage %

For both main stats and substats, aim for Void Damage and Attack. Void damage is a direct multiplier, and you'll want to prioritize Damage Over Time as much as possible to increase her Agony damage as this is her main source of DPS. You need to stack a lot of attack stat too so her Agony damage will increase while Critical Chance and Critical Damage is ignored because she has low multipliers on her cards and Agony cannot crit.

The Foggy Crystal Ball increases Tressa's 0-cost Shadow Daggers damage by 40% when equipped. Due to the nature of Tressa's deck, her enemies will almost always act first before her therefore, Wings of Freedom is the best armor choice so she can capitalize on her getting hit and buffing her damage as a result.

Emblem of an Exceptional Entity is generally a great trinket but requires a specific unidentified area in Laboratory 0 to get it. You can instead use Amorphous Cube as an alternative.

If you aren't able to get the best, you can settle for these equipment that can only be found in Laboratory 0 too. Obsidian Sword gives a +16% damage to all of her cards. Incomplete Carapace gives a shield if you end turn with 4 or more cards and Amorphous Cube gives a permanent +25% damage to all her cards.

Triple 0 Shadow Daggers Setup

The one-turn kill video above revolves around Tressa’s Shadow Reload and the Triple 0 quest, which generates Shadow Daggers each time a healing skill card is used and Triple 0 after 3 0-cost cards were used. The ideal card rotation is as follows:

  1. Start with Pop Eyed Popper (Triple 0) and Dice Trick
  2. Activate Shadow Reload cards
  3. Use skill cards with healing to generate Shadow Daggers
  4. (Optional) Play both Curse and Cursed Gouge at the same time for more Agony stacks
  5. Use all Shadow Dagger and Triple 0 cards on the target

Do take note that Tressa's Shadow Reload does not activate from passive healing effects such as equipments or attack cards with healing effects but your partners’ Ego Skills that heal the team can also generate Shadow Daggers, making them a more efficient use of Ego Points compared to using Tressa’s own Ego Skill for just two Shadow Daggers.

Use Vital Attack After Inflicting Tons of Agony

After inflicting a lot of Agony to a target, use Vital Attack specifically the epiphany that increases the damage of that card by 10% per Agony since it can stack infinitely. This will deal a ton of damage to a single target.

Quick heads up, if the healing is triggered by an attack card like Mika's Whirlpool (the 2-cost card that hits all enemies and heals), it will NOT trigger Tressa's Shadow Reload, so no Shadow Daggers will be created. The epiphany that places the healing effect first in its text will also fail to generate any Shadow Daggers. Shadow Reload specifically wants skills (+ ego heals). It somehow ended up being more specific and more lenient than I thought.
