Refinement and God's Hammer are new mechanics that grant additional effects to equipment in Chaos Zero Nightmare (CZN). Learn more about Refinement, God's Hammer, their effects, and how to get them with this guide!

Refinement Explained
Add Effects to Equipment
Season 2 includes the introduction of Refinement, which can add additional effects to your equipment. Upon getting Refinement, you can choose 1 of 3 possible options to add to any of your equipped gear.
It is important to note that it is possible to refine equipment that has already been refined. Once you select a modifier, it will not appear again during your current run.
Season 2 Content and Release Date
Obtain by Progressing Through the Arena
It is possible to obtain Refinement by defeating the Arena Exterior boss or by encountering them in Unidentified Areas within the new region.
God's Hammer Explained
Add a Powerful Effect to Refined Equipment
God's Hammer can add a powerful effect to equipment that have already been refined. Unlike Refinement though, you can cannot choose what effect to your selected equipment, only which gear you want it applied to.
Obtain by Defeating the Arena Interior Boss
God's Hammer can only be obtained by defeating the Interior Boss of the Arena. With some luck, you can end up with incredibly powerful gear.
Possible Affixes Are All Equipment Effects
The Divine Hammer effect pool contains all the equipment effects in the game. This means that it has an extremely wide pool of selection and trying to target farm a specific gear effect is highly unrecommended. It is best to treat the God's Hammer as a bonus addition on top of the three refinements you can obtain during season 2's Burning Life chaos zone.
