This is a glossary of in-game battle terms used in Chaos Zero Nightmare (CZN). See a list of in-game terms here!

| Action Count | The number of card plays remaining until the monster acts Decreases by 1 with each card played When it reaches 0, monster acts |
| Agony | At turn end, deal Fixed DoT equal to the amount of Agony 50% Upon effect, reduce Pain by 1 |
| Agony Imprint | When Agonty is gained, gain an additional Agony 2 |
| AP | Action Point. The resource consumed when playing a card |
| Attack Weakness | When attacking a monster with weakness attribute, damage increases. Tenacity decreases further |
| Ballista Card | Ballista, Piercing Ballista, Enhanced Ballista, Giant Ballista, Shelling Ballista, Micro Ballista These are types of Ballista |
| Basic Card | Among starting cards, this is a card with only Damage, Shield, or Healing function |
| Bullet | Cards with the Bullet keyword |
| Combo | If the card used immediately before has the same attribute, effect activates |
| Commence the Hunt | When using a Targeting Attack Card, inflict 50% Extra Attack on the target reduce Commence the Hunt by 1 Increase Extra Attack damage per Commence the Hunt stack by 30% (max 5 stacks) |
| Coordinated Attack | When an ally attacks, perforrm a joint attack dealing 100% of Attack Power as damage |
| Counterattack | When taking Damage, 100% Defense-based Damage on the attacker. If the attack is fully blocked with Shield, 150% Defense-based Damage. When triggered, -1 Counterattack (Max 10) |
| Creation | Three types of cards can be summoned by Orlea If a card of the same creature ★ is in hand, it evolves and merges Evolution can reach up to 3 stages |
| Crystallization | At turn end, gain Fixed Shield 20% for each Crystallize stack |
| Damage Reduction | Reduce damage taken by 15% Upon activation, reduce Damage Reduction by 1 |
| Dark Mist Blade Art | Effect that triggers from the cards when Rin is in Dark Cloud Stance state |
| Dark Mist Stance | Activate the Dark Cloud Blade Art effect of Rin's card If another combatant's Attack card is used, remove Dark Cloud Stance |
| Decibel | When a Shuffle occurs, all allies perform 50% Extra Attack on a random enemy Remove Decibel upon activation +50% Extra Attack Damge per Decibel (Max 5 stacks) |
| Defeat | If the target is defeated or in the Defeated state, the effect activates |
| Defense-based Damage | Damage applied as 210% of Defense and 30% of Attack |
| Discard | Discard cards from hand to the Discard Pile |
| Discard Pile | The pile where discarded cards go |
| Draw | Move a card from the Draw Pile to hand |
| Draw Pile | The pile from which cards are Drawn |
| Embers | When hitting or defeating a target in Breakthrough state, +30% damage dealt per stack of Ember the target has. Ember is removed upon activation. (Up to 5 stacks) |
| Ephermeral | If this card is in hand at the end of the turn, Exhaust it |
| Epiphany | Epiphany occurs, granting the card a new effect |
| Exhaust | When used, this card moves to the Exhaust pile |
| Extra Attack | Damage affected by Critical Chance and Bonus Damage |
| Finale | When this card is used, end the turn |
| Fixed Damage | A damage that ignores persistent effects |
| Fixed Damage over Time (DoT) | Damage that ignores status effects and applies DoT |
| Fixed Shield | A shield that ignores persistent effects. |
| Fortitude | Damage taken -20% per Tenacity stack |
| Handgun Bullet | Magnum Shot, Silver Shot, Uranium Shot, Tracer These are standardized bullets |
| Haste | This card does not reduce the enemy's Action Count |
| Heal | Recover Health based on Defense Recover a random combatant's Stress by 1-6 depending on the Healing Amount |
| Heaven | When using a card with cost 2 or higher, this card activates |
| Impair | -50% Shield When triggered, -1 Impair |
| Initiation | Place this card on top of the Draw Pile at the start of battle |
| Inspiration | When this card is drawn by ability, activate effect Excluding draw at the start of the turn |
| Launcher Shell | Flashbang, Explosive Shot, Dispersing Shot, Flame Shot, Cold Shot These are Launcher Bullets |
| Lead | At the start of the turn, 50% chance to reduce this card's cost by 1. Effect removed when another card is used. |
| Mark | When using Attack Cards, 100% Extra Attack, Tenacity Damage by 0 cost, reduce Mark by 1 |
| Metalization | When gaining Shield via an ability, deal Defense-based Damage 80% to a random enemy |
| Mission | When conditions are met during battle, generate a Quest card as a reward Quest card is excluded from the criteria |
| Morale | +20% Damage per Morale |
| Passion Weakness | Passion cards gain Weakness Attack |
| Piercing Damage | Damage that ignores Shield |
| Preserve Shield | Retain Shield for x turns |
| Pulverize | When hitting a target with Shield, +20% Damage |
| Quest Card | Triple 0, Triple 1, Straight, Full House Obtainable upon completing Cassius Quests |
| Ravage | When the monster's Tenacity is fully reduced, activate effect. If Ravaged, gain 1 Action Point |
| Reload | +50% Ballista Damage Remove Reload at the end of turn (Max 3 stacks) |
| Resolve | Shield gain +20 for each Resolve stack |
| Respond | When this card is Drawn, activate Response effect |
| Retain | This card is not discarded at the end of the turn |
| Retrieve | When this card moves to the Graveyard, return it to hand. Remove recovery upon activation |
| Shield | Reduce damage taken until the next turn |
| Silver Veil | If Silver Veil is 3, 400%% Defensed-based Damage to all enemies Remove Silver Veil on activation |
| Tenacity | Represents the attribute of the monster When attacked with the same attribute card, trigger Attack Weakness |
| Tenacity Damage | Damage dealt to a monster's Tenacity |
| Unique | Cannot hold more than 1 card with Unique |
| Unusable | This card is unusable |
| Vulnerable | Damage taken increased by 50% When triggered, reduce Vulnerable 1 |
| Wave | If Wave is 3, gain Action Points 1 and reduce Wave by 3 |
| Weaken | -25% Damage Upon activation, -1 Weaken |
| X | Consume all Action Points held, activate effect equal to that number |
