Each Manifest Ego will require one Memory Code - Hugo and the Ego Manifestation from the previous stage.
Hugo can deal follow-up damage through his Commence the Hunt mechanic each time a direct single-target attack card is used on an enemy. He performs well as a sub-DPS when paired with a character who has many low-cost Attack cards like Tressa, allowing him to deal additional damage.
Increase his Commence the Hunt stacks by using other combatant's Upgrade or Skill cards once Hugo uses his Hunting Instincts card. It's better to increase the stacks to max, since the Extra Attack damage Hugo deals increases by 30% per stack!
