High single-target damage across multiple attacks Can stack high amounts of Agony No AoE damage

Hugo is the sub DPS of this team with his Lightning Dingo and constant follow-up attacks thanks to Tressa's almost infinite generation of 0-cost Shadow Daggers. Mika's job in this team is to provide cheap heals to Tressa as this team is already AP efficient. The Agony stacks Tressa inflicts can eventually finish up an enemy if the combo did not take them down.

The best team composition for Hugo includes Tressa and Mika, as their cards synergize strongly with Hugo’s Commence the Hunt mechanic. Mika’s Skill cards for healing and AP sustain help increase Hugo’s Commence the Hunt stacks with each use. As the main DPS, Tressa can generate numerous Shadow Dagger cards that trigger Commence the Hunt to deal additional damage, provided you’ve built up enough stacks.

Mei Lin	Can replace Tressa as the Main DPS, since her kit contains cards that can summon her basic Strike cards, allowing Hugo to stack Commence the Hunt through the Skill card, and deal Extra Attack damage after using the Mei Lin's attack cards.
Beryl	Can replace Tressa as the Main DPS, as she has the ability to create her retaining cards: Opening Found and Charged Shot.
Nia	Can replace Mika as the Support, since her kit contains lots of Skill cards. Unfortunately, she's not the strongest when it comes to healing unlike Mika.

The most important cards for Hugo are Hunting Instincts, Dingo Howling, and Fixer's Approach, as these are the key cards for stacking Commence the Hunt and increasing its damage. Hunting Instincts has the Outbreak of War tag, meaning it will always be the first card you draw at the start of your first turn. This allows you to begin stacking Commence the Hunt right away by using Skill cards from your other characters. It's also important that this gets duplicated, as it will increase the stacks you receive by two for each Skill card used.

Fixer's Approach increases the Extra Attack damage of Commence the Hunt by 40%. Dingo Howling initially adds two stacks of Commence the Hunt, but with the correct Epiphany effect, you can push this to three Commence the Hunt stacks upon use.

You’ll want to activate Epiphanies for Tressa’s cards to generate more Shadow Daggers. Unsheathe Dagger initially creates two Shadow Daggers, but can be upgraded to create three. The Shadow Reload card originally creates an Advanced Shadow Dagger, but it can be modified through Epiphany to instead create a Shadow Dagger each time you heal using a Skill card, cards Mika has plenty of.

Tina’s passive effect increases the Extra Attack damage from Commence the Hunt by 25%. When she uses her Ego Skill, this bonus increases by an additional 30% for one turn. This is especially effective if you have many Commence the Hunt stacks and multiple copies of Tressa’s Shadow Dagger cards to maximize your damage output.

The best set combination for Hugo is Bullet of Order (4-piece) and Black Wing (2-piece). Bullet of Order allows you to deal more damage whenever you use an Attack card, and Black Wing gives you an additional 12% Attack.

For main stats and substats, you can focus on Order Damage, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, and Ego Recovery. Ego Recovery can be replaced with Attack for more consistency, but activating Hugo's Ego Skill generally results in more damage overall.

Cursed Corpse as an Alternative if You Have Tressa

The Cursed Corpse can replace Black Wing if you have Tressa on your team. This provides a higher and consistent damage increase, since enemies will always be afflicted with Agony.

These pieces of gear equipped on Hugo increase the damage he deals to his targets by buffing his extra attack and when an enemy is alone which both Second Method and Eye of the Punisher does the job well. Torture Toolbox is a throwaway pick because there is no better armor slot for him other than increasing the action count of enemies which Hugo team's tend to play a lot of cards.

Do note that these equipments can only be found in The Foretold Ruin chaos area.

Increase Commence the Hunt Stacks by Using Skill Cards

Activate Hugo’s Hunting Instincts first, then use Mika’s skill cards to increase Commence the Hunt stacks. This may take more than one turn if you want to maximize your damage output. Acquiring several of Tressa’s Shadow Daggers can also take some time, since the cards you draw are random.

Prioritize getting your Commence the Hunt to max stacks (5 max) to also increase the damage multiplier of the Extra Attack from the mechanic.
