The Shield buff reduces damage by a certain amount for one turn, based on the character's defense. Shields serve as a layer of protection, enabling you to survive devastating blows.

Vanguards scale off of defense and usually have the ability to generate shields for the entire team. They scale off defense for both offensive and defensive purposes. This makes them essential in situations where you need the additional survivability that they provide.
