What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Tome is effective against flying foes and it grants a buff across all stats in both phases ・Can nullify enemy guaranteed follow-ups and skills that prevent his own follow-up attacks ・Since weapon skill accelerates Special trigger, Moonbow sits at a cooldown of 1 |
Might: 14 Range: 2 Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). Effective against flying foes. If unit initiates combat or if unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 and neutralizes foe's bonuses (from skills like Fortify, Rally, etc.) during combat. |
Cooldown Count = 2 Treats foe's Def/Res as if reduced by 30% during combat. |
Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4. After combat, deals 8 damage to unit. |
Disables foe’s skills that guarantee foe’s follow-up attack and foe’s skills that prevent unit’s follow-up attack. |
At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to an ally, grants Spd/Res+5 to unit for 1 turn. |

HP (18) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Atk (22) | ★★★★☆ | |
Spd (12) | ★★★★★ | |
Def (4) | ★★☆☆☆ | |
Res (7) | ★★☆☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Asbel are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Asbel to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. Additionally, it protects him from hostile follow-up attacks. Taking a bane in Res would balance his defensive stats and that is ideal for survival so it is the best bane he can take.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Asbel to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. He will be able to nail consistent follow-up attacks at this point even without support. It will also boost his durabiity by a lot since only the fastest units can score follow-up attacks on him. You can also go for a +Atk IV if you prefer supplementing his Spd with support instead.

This is a build that uses little skill inheritance. With Quickened Pulse and Asbel's weapon, he can trigger his Special from the start. Alternatively, you can use Swift Sparrow as a Sacred Seal and have an ally with Infantry Pulse to reduce your Special cooldown.

This build ensures that Asbel's Special will always be up, even if he is hit with an enemy Pulse Smoke. With his Special always active, he will be able to take out any enemies with his high attack and speed.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Asbel is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Asbel's weapon, Grafcalibur, is effective against flying foes so it is already unique in that regard alone. Given the amount of powerful fliers in the competitive game modes like Aether Raids, this weapon makes Asbel viable in those maps.
Additionally, it grants +5 to all stats if Asbel initiates combat, or if he enters combat within 2 spaces of an ally. It also neutralizes foe's bonuses during combat when he meets said conditions. Combined with Fury 4, he brings a lots of stats in matchups
Last but not the least, it also accelerates his special trigger by 1 count, so this means Asbel's Moonbow is at a cooldown of 1. With that very low cooldown, he can activate Moonbow every time he scores a follow-up attack. With his high Spd, he can definitely run a Desperation 3 setup.
Expect lots of Moonbows when running Asbel's base kit!
Null Follow Up 3 neutralizes effects that guarantee enemy follow-up attacks on Asbel and effects that prevent Asbel from executing follow-up attacks. This makes Asbel a great counter for units like Tibarn and those with Bold Fighter or Wary Fighter.
This makes it very safe to stack tons of Spd with the goal of scoring consistent follow-up attacks because it would not go to waste becasue of said skills.
Asbel has native access to Fury 4 which provides a huge stat boost to its user. To be exact, it provides +4 Atk/Spd/Def/Res. However, it deals -8 HP to Asbel everytime he exits combat. With some healers like Sara or a passive healer like Reyson, this downside can be easily made up for.
Although you can always go for the fully offensive route and take advantage of the HP deduction by getting Desperation 3 or Vantage 3 onto his kit.
Asbel's Def only sits at 21 at Lv.40. This makes it very easy for physical units to take him out. Be mindful of Asbel's positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take him out.
His Res can be unreliable too depending on the situation. At +0 merges and if you get a -Res bane, it will sit at 23 making it very low too. One quick fix to this of course is to get a merge! Having said all this, make sure that the unit Asbel will attack cannot take him out with a counterattack. If possible, have him buffed or have his allies shave some HP off them before finishing them off with Asbel.

Asbel can be used to inherit the skills Fury 4 or Spd/Res Oath 3. However, Asbel is a powerful green tome unit. He is very reliable as he has many great matchups because of Grafcalibur. If you do not have a reliable green tome unit yet, then you might want to train and invest in Asbel instead. You can also get Null Follow-Up 3 from him.
If you are able to get Fury 3 from another unit, you can get both Fury 4 and another skill of your choice.
Asbel is a Hero who can be pulled from any summon.
Note: Not currently a featured hero in any Summon events.
