What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Weapon skill removes terrain movement penalties, grants 【Dodge】, stat bonuses and a Tempo effect to unit, and grants stat bonuses to nearby allies. ・Exclusive Special negates damage reduction and deals bonus damage to dragons and beasts. |
Might: 14 Range: 2 Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of turn, if unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants "unit cannot be slowed by terrain (does not apply to impassable terrain)" and 【Dodge】 to unit for 1 turn. If unit initiates combat or is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit and neutralizes effects that grant "Special cooldown charge +X" to foe or inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit during combat. If unit is within 2 spaces of any allies, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to those allies during combat. |
Cooldown Count = 2 Boosts damage by 25% of unit's Atk. If in combat against a dragon foe or beast foe, boosts damage by 50% instead of 25%. Disables non-Special skills that "reduce damage by X%". |
If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Spd/Res+6 to unit during combat, and also, if unit's Special is ready or unit's Special triggered before or during this combat, deals +5 damage during combat. (Except when dealing damage with area-of-effect Specials.) |
Inflicts Spd/Res -3 on foe and neutralizes foe's bonuses to Spd/Res (from skills like Fortify, Rally, etc.) during combat. |
Stat | Superboon/Superbane | IV Recommendation |
---|---|---|
HP (18) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Atk (12) | ★★★★☆ | |
Spd (14) | ★★★★★ | |
Def (3) | ★★☆☆☆ | |
Res (4) | ★★★☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Sage Byleth (M) are +Spd and -Def. His base Spd is really high at base 44, and the 【Dodge】 status improves his bulk through the damage reduction effect.
His defensive stats are below average and any of them can be taken as a bane. We recommend Def since it is the lowest among the three.
We recommend +Spd when merging Sage Byleth (M) to +10 to maximize his Spd and ensure she gets the best chance to survive through his damage reduction effect.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Sage Byleth (M) is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Sage Byleth (M)'s exclusive weapon Guide's Hourglass accelerates Special trigger and ignores terrain penalties like all the other weapons for the heroes on his debut banner.
It also grants Byleth 【Dodge】, Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 during combat, the Tempo effect, and Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to all nearby allies during combat.
The accelerated Special trigger and Tempo effect ensure that Byleth can trigger his Special, Sublime Heaven, very often.
Sage Byleth (M) also carries Sublime Heaven like his Legendary counterpart.
Sublime Heaven is a 2 charge special, lowered to 1 with Guide's Hourglass, that increases Byleth's damage by 25% of his attack, and 50% if Byleth is facing a dragon or beast foe. In addition to that, it negates foe's non-Special skills that reduce damage such as Spurn 3 or Fallen Edelgard's Armored Wall.
This exclusive Special is still one of the most powerful Special skills in the game despite its age.
Being a 4 star special hero on his debut banner, Sage Byleth (M) is cheap to merge up by acquiring copies at an increased rate compared to other 5 star exclusive heroes.
Sage Byleth (M) is arguably one of the best 4 star special heroes in the entire game, only rivalled by Summer Claude.. He has two powerful exclusive skills and a modern statline capable of fighting the top tier units in the metagame.
Guide's Hourglass only grants the terrain bonus and Dodge if Sage Byleth is within 2 spaces of an ally at the start of his turn.
Additionally, he also only receives the Tempo effect and stat bonuses if he either initiates combat or is within 2 spaces of an ally.
Careful positioning is necessary in order to bring out the best in Sage Byleth (M).

Sage Byleth has Spd/Res Finish 3 and Lull Spd/Res 3 as inheritable options.
While his fodder is good, we suggest merging him up instead, as copies of Sage Byleth (M) are easier to acquire due to his 4 star rarity.
