The best IVs for Owain are +Spd and -HP. A higher Spd stat allows Owain to get more follow-up attacks on his foes. More attacks means faster charging time as well. His HP is not much of importance to him so it is safe to take as a bane.

How to Use, Explanation

This build aims to leverage the combo of Blue Flame and Spurn 3 that both deals high, flat damage to enemy units. Flashing Blade 3 is taken for faster procs. If you can't afford Spurn, get Wrath 3 instead. That will allow Owain to deal more damage, at the cost of tankiness. Make sure to get his spec. eff. refine as it is very powerful.

How to Use, Explanation

This build uses the effects of refined Missiletainn to retaliate with Luna after a foe's first Atk, boosted by true damage equal to the damage Owain has already taken. Distant Counter is used to retaliate at any range, and the rest of the skills boost Owain's Atk and Spd as much as possible.

Missiletainn's refine gives Owain Atk/Spd+5 during combat if he's within 3 spaces of an ally.

It will also deal extra damage equal to the amount of damage Owain has received once his Special triggers.

This refine is useful when running skills on Owain like Fury 4 or Atk/Spd Push 4 since he will take damage after combat.

Paired with his Wrath 3 skill, it will allow him to deal even more massive amounts of damage!

Owain is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Owain Strengths

Weapon Speeds-up Special Cooldown

Missiletainn accelerates Special trigger by 1 count and it grants Special cooldown charge +1 per foe's attack.

These two mechanics combined makes Blue Flame very easy to activate.

This is perfect for Owain as his playstyle relies on activating his Special at the right conditions to deal tons of damage against the enemy.

Additionally, these effects are completely stackable with Wrath 3. This means being at the Wrath HP threshold significantly boosts the rate at which Owain can activate his specials.

The refined version also gives him additional stats and will deal damage equal to the amount of damage Owain has received.

Paired with skills like Fury 4 or Atk/Spd Push 4, he'll easily get within Wrath 3 range and deals even more damage.

Very Powerful Special Attack

Blue Flame boosts damage by 10, but if Owain is adjacent to an ally, it boosts it by 25 instead.

This again stacks with Wrath 3, meaning, Owain can get +35 fixed damage when activating his special at the right conditions.

This damage coming from Blue Flame and Wrath is pure and cannot be reduced.

It is separate from Owain's normal damage which is calculated by his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

This means that Owain can deal huge damage even to foes with very high Def stats.

Atk/Def Bond Increases Offensive Power

Atk/Def Bond 3 increases Owain's Atk and Def by +5 if he is adjacent to an ally.

Since it is an in-combat buff, it stacks with other combat buffs, so it is good to pair with units that have skills like Joint Drive Atk.
