Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-HP

The best IVs for Odin are +Atk and -HP. Odin shines best in being an offensive mage, but his somewhat low Atk stat hinders him. Taking a +Atk IV somehow patches this weakness of his, but make sure to invest more in him if he will be one of yur main units. His HP is of less importance so it is safe to take as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Odin to 10. At +10 Merges, Zelgius' Atk will reach respectable levels that pushing it up higher is a waste, considering he has access to a Blade tome in Odin's Grimoire. At this point, it would be better to opt with a +Spd IV instead to help him take less follow-up attacks and allow him to make some follow-up attacks on his own.

He will reach 39 Spd at +10 merges. If he receives Spd buffs at this range, he will reach ranges of Spd that allows him to score follow-up attacks on a wide range of enemies. Take note that the Spd buffs that you will be receiving will be converted to damage because of his weapon skill. So the benefit of receiving Spd buffs is massive. If you prefer one-shotting enemies using the insane raw power of Odin's Grimoire, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

Fury 4 adds to the Wall of Stats Odin becomes once the double Link effect is activated. This is further improved by merges, flowers etc. Double Smoke is taken as an effective option to improve his offenses even more.

How to Use, Explanation

With the Link effect from a refined Odin's Grimoire combined with Def/Res Link 3, Odin can be an effective enemy phase unit too! This potential is completed by taking Close Counter and Quick Riposte 3. The C slot is flexible, but Res Smoke 3 is a good, cheap option.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Odin's Grimoire

It grants a built-in effect identical to Atk/Spd Link 3. That effect is good enough by itself, but what makes it special is its interaction with Odin's Grimoire's Blade tome effect.

If activated, it grants +18 Atk +6 Spd in conjuction with Odin's weapon skill. It is definitely a must-get if Odin is one of your main units.

Odin is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Odin Strengths

Possesses an upgraded Blade tome

Odin's Grimoire is basically an upgraded Blárblade+. The former only has 1 Mt over the latter, but it lacks the drawback of having an extra special trigger. This makes the Grimoire a direct upgrade from the Blárblade+.

It also has a special effect refine available. The effect leverages the Blade tome effect of Grimoire. It allows Odin to dish-out huge amounts of damage if he receives a set-up from his allies.

Strong Against Red Tome Users

Odin has access to Red Tomebreaker 3, which guarantees follow-up attacks against red tome users and prevents them from executing follow-up attacks if Odin's HP is equal or more than 50%. If he is at a fair power level or has some buffs applied to him, a follow-up attack even to the most powerful red tome users would easily spell out a knock-out.

Moonbow and Red Tomebreaker is available from Odin even at 4★ so make sure to turn him into a Combat Manual if you do not plan to use him in battle!

Upgraded Blade tome that works well with Moonbow

Normal Blade tomes slow down the special trigger of its wielder. Odin's Grimoire, an upgraded Blade tome, does not. This makes it easy for Odin to activate Moonbow consistently. Moonbow's damage in the course of a map will add up and help patch-up Odin's lackluster Atk and Spd!

Odin Weaknesses

Low Atk status

Odin's firepower has a high ceiling because of the nature of his weapon skill. However, he has low Atk power to begin with. If he does not receive set-up from allies to power up Odin's Grimoire, you may find him lacking in knock-out potential.

In our opinion, there are much better options for a Blade tome unit like Tharja. If you already have a Blade tome unit and a reliable blue tome unit like Reinhardt, we recommend against investing in Odin.
