The best IVs for Mae are +Spd and -Def. A higher Spd stat allows Mae to prevent follow-up attacks against her and helps her make follow-up attacks on her own. The special effect refine for Book of Orchids grants Mae a built-in effect identical to Atk/Spd Link 3

Atk/Spd Link 3 buffs Mae and any ally who uses a movement-assist skill or receives one from Mae by +6 Atk/Spd. Since Mae has access to Draw Back, she can make use of this skill to push an ally deep into enemy danger zones while providing them with buffs.

Mae is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Mae Strengths

High player phase power!

Mae gains +6 Atk if she initiates combat through Book of Orchids. This effect is identical to Death Blow 3. Combined with Book of Orchids' special effect refine, she can gain an upwards of +12 Atk +6 Spd if she receives a movement-assist skill from her allies. Combined with Desperation discussed above, she makes for a hard-hitting player phase unit.

Quick follow-ups with Desperation

Desperation allows Mae to do a follow-up attack before the enemy counterattacks if her HP has dropped below the threshold. If Mae's damage is high enough, this allows her to easily take out enemies without taking damage.

Though be aware that Mae's Spd is not the best even at +10 merges! She would have to rely on external sources to improve her Spd such as her special effect refine and other allies' buffs.

Mae Weaknesses

Low Def

Mae's Def only sits at 16 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for physical units to take her out. Be mindful of Mae's positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take her out.
