When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Sage Nino are +Spd and -Def. Her base Spd is the highest in the game as of her time of release at base 46, and the various Atk/Spd bonuses on her kit already allow her to hit hard. Maximizing her Spd is more important in order to create more follow-up attack opportunities.
Her Def is a clear dump stat at only base 20 and should be taken as a bane.
We recommend +Spd when merging Sage Nino to +10 to maximize her Spd and ensure she gets the best chance to create follow-up attacks.

Sage Nino is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Sage Nino's exclusive weapon Child's Compass accelerates Special trigger and ignores terrain penalties like all the other weapons for the heroes on her debut banner.
It also grants Sage Nino movement +1, Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 during combat, bonus Atk/Spd equal to number of non-stat bonuses applied to Sage Nino, and 50% damage reduction on foe's next attack if Sage Nino triggered her Special during combat.
The extra movement and terrain buff make her a very mobile hero with 3 movement and able to pass though trees easily.
Child's Compass also grants two non-stat bonuses by itself, granting Atk/Spd+8 from the Atk/Spd bonus stacking right away. This Atk/Spd bonus can reach up to +16 if two more non-stat bonuses are applied.
Sage Nino also debuts a new inhertable C skill in Time's Pulse 4. This skill reduces Special cooldown at start of turn and after combat as long as the Special is at its maximum value.
By equipping a 2 cooldown Special like Glimmer or Ruptured Sky, Time's Pulse 4 ensures that Sage Nino's Special is always active, which enables the damage reduction on Child's Compass every combat.
Child's Compass has many powerful effects, but they are all reliant on Sage Nino having HP ≥ 25%.
While this is a simple condition to meet, her bulk isn't noteworthy, and she can be brought down below the threshold after one attack.
Sage Nino will be reliant on engaging first in order to trigger her Special and thus activate the damage reduction from her weapon.
