| What Kind of Character Are They? | ・A fantastic demote unit with great stats and a good exclusive weapon. ・Ancient Betrayal grants Atk/Res+6, 【En Garde】, and "neutralizes foe's bonuses" to Medeus and nearby allies at the start of each turn, inflicts Atk/Def/Res penalties and a Scowl effect to foe in combat, and grants Medeus bonus true damage and true damage reduction in combat. |
|
Might: 16 Range: 1 Grants Atk+3. If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res. At start of player phase or enemy phase, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Res+6, 【En Garde】, and "neutralizes foe's bonuses during combat" to unit and allies within 2 spaces of unit for 1 turn. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Def/Res = 20% of unit's Res at start of combat + 5, unit deals +X damage (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and reduces damage from foe's attacks by X (excluding area-of-effect Specials; X = number of staff and dragon allies on the map, excluding unit, x 5 + 10; max 20), and also, if foe's attack can trigger foe's Special and unit's Res ≥ foe's Res+5, inflicts Special cooldown count+1 on foe before foe's first attack during combat (cannot exceed foe's maximum Special cooldown). |
|
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts damage dealt by 80% of unit’s Res. |
|
If foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants Def/Res+6 to unit during combat, and also, if foe's attack can trigger foe's Special and unit's Res ≥ foe's Res+9 during combat, inflicts Special cooldown count+1 on foe before foe's first attack. (Cannot exceed the foe's maximum Special cooldown.) |
|
At start of turn, inflicts Atk-5 on foes in cardinal directions with Res < unit’s Res through their next actions. |

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Ancient Medeus are +Res and -Spd. Res is the key stat for Medeus as it is his best stat and also the basis of Ancient Betrayal's stat checks for both the stat penalties and the Scowl effect.
Medeus's Spd is a clear dump stat and can be safely taken as a bane.
We recommend a +Res IV when merging Ancient Medeus up to +10 for similar reasons above. +Atk is also an option if opting for a more offensive build.

This invested build turns Medeus into a solid frontline unit. Laguz Friend and Pulse Up: Ploy help pre-charge Dragon Flame, and Emblem Eirika Ring ensures that Medeus can burst down his foe in combat. Hardy Bearing is used to counter the Desperation effects that run rampant in today's metagame.

This build uses Divine Codes to make a bulky Ancient Medeus. Dragon's Scales is one of his best B skills, and both it and Earthfire Boost 3 can be obtained from a Halloween Nah Divine Code in the shop. Dragon's Roar and Barricade are on the same code path, but are more expensive to acquire.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Ancient Medeus is a close magic attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Ancient Medeus comes with his own exclusive weapon, Ancient Betrayal. This weapon grants Atk/Res+6, 【En Garde】, and neutralizes foe's bonuses during combat
to Medeus and his nearby allies at the start of each phase.
In combat, Ancient Betrayal inflicts an Atk/Def/Res penalty to Medeus's foe equal to 5 + 20% of Medeus's Res, grants Medeus up to +20 bonus true damage and true damage reduction based on the number of staff and dragon allies on the map, and has a built-in Scowl effect.
Ancient Betrayal is a great weapon for a demote unit, making Ancient Medeus one of the best merge projects to date.
While Ancient Medeus comes with Ancient Betrayal, his other skills aren't exactly ideal when fighting metagame foes.
He will need a lot of investment to compete against the strongest heroes in the game.
Ancient Medeus takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Divine Mist, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
