The crafting system becomes available after rescuing Dr. Zahedi and reuniting at the end of Salvation.
Crafting is locked in the Outriders Demo. Purchase the full-game to unlock this feature.
The Crafting Menu displays all weapons and gear currently in your inventory.
Crafting options include Leveling, Improving Rarity, Exchanging Mods, Swapping Variants, and Raising Attributes.
Leveling up increases the primary parameter (Firepower or Armor) of a given item. You can't raise the level of your equipment beyond the wearable item level cap indicated by your highest World Tier available.
Improving rarity also increases the primary parameter (Firepower or Armor) of a given item. You can only use it on Unusual and Rare equipment.
Exchanging mods is the very heart of crafting. Only one slot can be modded and mods of the same name do not stack. To unlock a mod, dismantle a piece of equipment with that specific mod.
Rare equipment have 1 mod slot, while Epic and Legendary items have 2 mod slots.
Swapping weapon variants affects how your particular weapon may behave. You can turn your assault rifle from a fully-automatic to a semi-automatic or a single-shot variant. Weapon variants will be unlocked as your character's level progresses.
The Anomaly Shards you get from dismantling equipment are responsible for the attributes of your weapons. Think of them as bonuses for that affect a variety of factors from Additional Health, Additional Firepower, Increased Critical Hit Chance, etc.
