Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay
In Cyberpunk 2077, players become V, a customizable mercenary whose appearance, gender, and playstyle can be tailored to the player's preference. The game features five core skills, each of which can be leveled up by performing specific actions related to that skill:
⚫︎ Headhunter: XP can be gained by lethally killing enemies or landing headshots.
⚫︎ Netrunner: XP can be gained by using quickhacks to neutralize enemies.
⚫︎ Shinobi: XP can be gained by dodging and dashing.
⚫︎ Solo: XP can be gained by using close-quarters combat and performing finishers.
⚫︎ Engineer: XP can be gained by crafting, upgrading, disassembling, and looting items.
This progression system supports various playstyles through customizable attributes like Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Technical Ability, and Cool, with additional enhancements introduced in the Phantom Liberty expansion, such as the Relic skill tree.
V can equip a wide array of melee and ranged weapons categorized into Power (ricocheting bullets), Tech (penetrating projectiles), and Smart (homing bullets). Along with these weapons, V themself is also modifiable with cyberware implants, obtained through ripperdocs. These unlock or enhance abilities such as double-jumping, sliding, or enhanced vision.
Night City consists of six regions, each with its own unique culture and gangs, along with the outskirts known as the Badlands. The city operates on a full day-night cycle with dynamic weather, and players can travel on foot or using vehicles, with vehicular combat being further enhanced in Phantom Liberty’s Dogtown.
This city is also home to numerous side quests and activities. V interacts with Fixers to acquire missions, which yield experience points for character upgrades and "street cred," which players can earn to get more side jobs. Choices during quests influence the game’s multiple endings. What seems like a minor decision in one quest could greatly affect another.
Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Features

Despite the console not being as powerful as the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, the Switch 2 version incorporates Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology to achieve improved performance and visual fidelity. In docked mode, the game targets 1080p resolution, while handheld mode aims for 720p, both utilizing DLSS for upscaling.
Additionally, the game supports motion controls using the Joy-Con 2 controllers. For example, players can use a Joy-Con 2 to wield their katana in combat. Considering the mouse-like functionality of the Joy-Con 2, players may have the option to utilize these controls for aiming and shooting at opponents.
Cyberpunk 2077 Story
Cyberpunk 2077 begins with the player choosing one of three lifepaths for the protagonist, V: Nomad, Street Kid, or Corpo. This choice shapes V's backstory, the prologue, and certain dialogue options throughout the game. Regardless of the chosen path, V’s journey converges on their partnership with Jackie Welles, a local thug, and T-Bug, a netrunner, as they work as mercenaries in Night City.
Their lives take a dramatic turn when they are hired by a fixer, Dexter "Dex" DeShawn, to steal a revolutionary piece of technology called the Relic. The biochip, developed by the Arasaka Corporation, is said to be of immense value.
The heist, however, goes catastrophically wrong, leaving V in possession of the Relic under dire circumstances. The chip contains the digital consciousness of Johnny Silverhand, a rebellious rocker and terrorist believed to have died decades earlier during an assault on Arasaka Tower. The Relic begins to merge Silverhand’s engram with V’s mind, threatening to overwrite V’s consciousness completely within six months.
