Gil'uial is a multi-target debuffer whose biggest strength lies in her ability to dispel buffs from the enemy team's carries, as well as having a good chance to inflict Silence on them, preventing them from casting their skills.

She also has good damage potential with her Stardust skill dealing 780% of Gil’uial’s ATK to 2 random enemies, but twice that amount if she's afflicted with a debuff. Finally, if you put enough levels on her, she's quite difficult to take down, as she has high CRIT Res and a multi-barrier to start the match.

• Can be quite tanky when leveled, especially at 221 and above. 		• Dispels just 1 buff from each target she hits with her Twilight’s Delusion skill.

• 5-turn cooldown on her active skills.

Additionally, after dispelling the buffs, if a target’s remaining HP percentage is 50% or higher, this skill has a 20% chance to inflict ［Silence］ on that target for 1 turn.
Level 3 (Unlocks by level 161)
After dispelling the buffs, if a target’s MAG is lower than Gil’uial’s MAG, the chance to inflict ［Silence］ on that target becomes 40%.

Dispels 1 debuff from 2 enemies with the highest ATK, which are often the DPS carries of their teams. The skill's strength lies in its targeting, almost always succeeding in disrupting the opponent's plans and dispelling one buff from the enemy carry, as well as having the chance to inflict Silence on them.

While 1 buff is guaranteed to be dispelled (unless they're not dispellable), the catch with this skill is that it only really removes 1 buff, and its cooldown is rather long at 5 turns. In cases against teams whose carries benefit from numerous buffs at a time, Gil'uial might dispel the least valuable buff instead, wasting the usage of the skill.

Additionally, before dealing the magical attack, if Gil’uial is afflicted with a debuff, the magical attack’s damage is multiplied by 2.
Level 4 (Unlocks by level 181)
The targets of this skill become 3 random enemies.

Another strong ability, Stardust can potentially deal huge damage when Giu'lial is afflicted with a debuff, since this skill deals twice as much damage in instances like these. This skill also has decent chances of inflicting Silence on enemies, and even more when she's under the effects of her An Almighty Lesson skill, which boosts the chances of landing debuffs.

With Silence being one of the strongest debuffs in the game, Gil'uial disrupts her opponents' plans and prevents them from casting their skills, provided that her Silence lands.

Cerberus is the perfect attacker to have against Gil'uial. She deals big damage without the need for crits, which is ideal against a high CRIT Res character like Gil'uial. Additionally, she can cleanse herself of debuffs, rendering Gil'uial's Silence useless.

MementoMori - Sivi IconSivi

Sivi can cleanse herself and up to 2 other allies of Gil'uial's silences, rendering her strongest utility useless. Just like all the other listed counters, Gil'uial can dispel Sivi's buffs, but if not, Sivi can make light work of Gil'uial as she's a powerful attacker who does not rely on crits to deal big damage.

MementoMori - Merlyn IconMerlyn

While it's true that Merlyn's CRIT buff can be dispelled by Gil'uial, Merlyn also counters her as she'll prevent her team's carry from being Silenced. Moreover, Merlyn also counters Gil'uial by possibly dispelling the latter's buffs with Merlyn's Vine Stream attack. If Merlyn manages to dispel Gil'uial's buffs, she'll be less likely to inflict her Silence on your characters.

As an honorable mention, Fenrir is also a good counter to Gil'uial. She offers the same benefits Merlyn has against Gil'uial while having the same risk of having her buff dispelled as well.

A well-rounded team that's almost immune to debuffs. Cerberus and Cordie will be the main damage dealers while Cordie and Soltina inflict debuffs. Merlyn and Fenrir will buff her teammates while Soltina tanks for the team. Cerberus, Merlyn, Fenrir, and Soltina all have some sort of dispel that can cleanse themselves of debuffs. Cordie does not have any built-in cleanses, but she'll benefit from her support's ability to do it for her.

This team is well-rounded and can hurl a bunch of powerful debuffs on opponents, as well as having multiple buffs to help Cordie and Mimi deal big damage. Gil'uial struggles when having to face carries with multiple buffs, as she can only remove one, and the opponent's carry would still be left with buffs. If you have a Soltina, she'll do well in this team as well, and against Gil'uial in general. Moreover, none of these characters are limited-SR units, which means you could get them without pulling from the limited gacha banners.

Witches Not To Use Against Gil’uial

MementoMori - Florence IconFlorence

Florence relies on crits to deal big damage and strike more times. This is terrible against Gil'uial because of her multi-barrier and her massive CRIT Res buffs.

MementoMori - Amleth IconAmleth

Amleth is weak to opponents who can dispel her Immortality buff. Gil'uial can do it effectively, and it helps that she's tanky enough to stay in the match until Amleth activates her Immortality when her health diminishes, thanks to her Multi-Barrier and CRIT Res buffs.

MementoMori - Dian IconDian

Dian typically earns her spot on most of the teams she's on purely because she can help her carry's survivability thanks to her EVD buff. Gil'uial can take that away, along with Dian's value to her team.

Tips for Beating Gil’uial

Try Not To Rely On Crits

Gil'uial's survivability lies in her Multi-Barrier and her CRIT RES self-buffs. Her Multi-Barrier will keep her safe for 3 attacks, and then it's all up to her CRIT Res to keep her health bar stable. Characters like Florence will be less capable of taking her down. Instead, opt for characters who don't need crits to win fights, like Cerberus.

Dispel Her Silence

Her Silence won't always hit, but when they do, you'll want to be able to get rid of it. Characters like Nina, Cerberus, Merlyn, and the others we've listed above are capable of this, and you'll want them on your side whenever you face off with a Gil'uial.

Don't Use Characters That Rely On Specific Buffs

A good example of a character like this is Amleth. Her kit revolves around her damage buffs that grow as her health goes down. This goes hand-in-hand with her Invincibility buff, which keeps her at that 1HP threshold, allowing her to deal big damage without fear of dying. Unless of course, it gets dispelled, which Gil'uial is more than capable of doing. Other examples that come to mind are Fia's HP Drain buff that helps her survive, as well as Dian's EVD buffs.
