This is a guide for how to get excellent Jump Attacks in the game Paper Mario: The Origami King. If you're struggling with the jump timing, when to use Jump Attacks or what Boots to wear, read on!
List of Contents
When attacking with Hammers, Boots or Items, you can deal additional damage by pressing the A button at just the right time.
This extra damage might mean the difference between ending the battle in one round, unharmed, or taking damage and potentially getting a Game Over if your health is low, so it's important to pin down the timing early on.
Like Olivia explains in the early tutorials, you have to press the A button at just the right time to get the Excellent bonus.
The timing might be a bit difficult at first, but you need to press A in the moment Mario lands on an enemy's head and gets ready to jump off again.
Using Jump Attacks on spiky enemies, such as Spinys, will cut your attack short and deal damage to Mario, so avoid Jump Attacks with any Boots that aren't Iron or other metals!
Once you make it to Picnic Road and free the Toad stuck as an origami dog, the Battle Lab will open in Toad Town.
There, you can practice the timing of your Boots Attack and Hammer Attack, as well as Blocking.
The Toad in charge of the Battle Lab will tell you whether you're pressing too quick, too slow or just right, so pay attention to his advice while practicing.
