Spring of Rainbows Walkthrough

Heading to the Spring of Rainbows

Objectives
1 Go back to the central area. Head southwest of the center fountain, through the clearing with the Legendary Items shop, and into a narrow path to the west. On the next screen, go down the steps towards the Spring of Rainbows.
2 Head east towards the Spring of Rainbows.
3 The other end of the pipe to the Spring of Rainbows is blocked, so you'll have to head east and go across the narrow cliffside. When you see a gust of wind about to blow, keep yourself from getting blown away by pressing B, to hold on to the chain attached to the cliffside. You will eventually arrive at the other end of the pipe.
4 Remove Olly's tape from the pipe. Head to the center and Hammer the door-shaped wall to enter the Spring of Rainbows. You will arrive at the Shy Guys Finish Last minigame.

Shy Guys Finish Last

Objectives
1 On the Shy Guys Finish Last minigame, you'll need to score 100 points with a total of 12 tries at a variety of brain games. Even if you make a few mistakes, you'll have three tries at each game, so you can get used to the style.

2 This pattern will allow you to reach the correct answer.
(Not required)
You can optionally opt to try a Sudden Death round for Shy Guys Finish Last. If you win, you'll receive Collectible Treasure No. 108 for your efforts.
3 After completing the mini-game, you'll enter the Spring of Rainbows. If you say Yes to Bowser Jr., you'll return to Shangri-Spa right away; otherwise, if you say No, you can explore the area, and head back to Shangri-Spa using the Rinsing Bath.
For a fun secret, fill in the confetti hole and go to the cafe. When the waiter asks if you want coffee, say No, and then say Yes to the special.

Max UP Heart

Spring of Rainbows Max Up Heart 2.png

Near the entrance to the Spring of Rainbows, a steam vent blows a platform upwards. Break the wall to its left and go through to find three breakable stalactites. Knock them all down to power up the steam, then ride the platform to reach the chest with a +10 HP heart.

Tips & Strategies

Hold On When the Wind Becomes Visible

When crossing the gap, wind will frequently start blowing and knock Mario back to the start. Watch for when white lines representing the wind start to flow across the screen – that's your cue to grab on to a chain. Don't push it any further after that; slow and steady wins the race!

Boss Strategy Guide

The Sumo Bros have powerful thunder attacks, but a weak spot for Vellumentals. Steal back the Fire Vellumental panel and watch them go up in flames!
