Unlock the Secret Ending (True Ending)

If you reach the ending with the game at 100% completion, a bonus scene will play after the credits. These secret ending scenes include Olly and Olivia, so use the guides and get the items or trophies you're missing!

Origami King Ending Explained

Normal Ending Summary

Ending - Bowser & Jr. Enjoying Festival.png
This is the ending you get if you still haven't gotten 100%. In the credit rolls, you can see what areas you have 100% in and what areas you don't by the stars on the pictures!

After Olivia's Wish

Ending - Gang Lands 2.png
After Olivia sacrifices herself to restore the kingdom, Mario and the gang, along with a restored Princess Peach, land in front of Peach's castle. Luigi notices that Olivia is missing, they all look at the sky, and the scene fades to black in this ending.

Origami Festival

Some time passes and Toad Town finally celebrates the Origami Festival.

The mood is festive, with fireworks shooting at the sky, origami decorations and colored streamers lighting the city, and even Bowser, Bowser Jr., and their minions are having fun peacefully.

The Castle Centerpiece

At the town's center, in the normal ending, the Origami Craftsman has displayed Olly's miniature Origami Castle from his workshop on Mushroom Island, but this time with empty thrones for Olly and Olivia.

Peach notices Mario thinking of Olivia and comforts him by commenting that Olivia was brave to save them, that she's with them in spirit, and that Peach wishes she could thank her. This confirms that Olivia is gone.

Paper Lanterns

A Toad approches with lighted origami lanterns and everyone gathers at the town's center, each with a lighted origami lantern of their own.

All other lights are turned off and a message is shown: To all the origami... Thank you!

Everyone releases their origami lantern to the sky, to pay their respects for all the origami that restored their world.

This is the ending if you have not cleared all the areas and all the trophies available at the Museum.

Secret Ending (True Ending) Summary

This is the ending you get when clearing Paper Mario: The Origami King 100%, and it's added in the form of a bonus scene that plays after the credits.

Olivia and Olly

In this secret ending scene, after everyone has left the town's center, the Origami Craftsman sneaks back to the miniature Origami Castle and places miniature origami versions of Olly and Olivia on the castle's thrones.

The camera focuses on Olly and Olivia's happy faces and the scene fades to black in this secret ending.

It isn't clear whether the Origami Craftsman folded them to life again, but Olly and Olivia's happy faces are enough to cheer us up!
