List of Contents
Faceless Toads are the poor toads in the Temple of Shrooms who have no face, punched out by Hole Punch, the Disco Devil.
When Hole Punch got angry, it removed the face of all the Toads in the Temple of Shrooms and locked itself inside a room. The only way to get it back to dancing is to play groovy music and find all of the Faceless Toads. He doesn't want a lonely dance floor so we have to find those toads!
You will encounter most of the Faceless Toads as you start exploring the Temple of Shrooms. However, there are a lot of hidden doors and puzzles to solve before you find all the Faceless Toads. Start exploring to find each toad!
To rescue the Faceless Toads, you need to locate the lost discs of DJ Toad first. Once found, return to the DJ Toad, and have him play the Thrills at Night disc. The DJ will then give you an Ancient Portable Music Machine.
Use this boombox, and revisit the locations of the Faceless Toads you encountered before. Go near each Toad, and they will follow you automatically. You can start rescuing the Toads inside the DJ room. Then, enter the green Warp Pipe to travel back to the west side of the Triangle Switch Puzzle room.
You can find the Heartbeat Skipper disc on the room to the west of Triangle Switch Puzzle. Open the Treasure Chest to get the lost disc.
You can find the Deep Deep Vibes disc in the next room after the path where you can overlook the Faceless Toads in the scuttlebugs web. Run to the east side and do not stop as the sarcophagus will fall down. The disc is in the last sarcophagus.
On the far-east side of the Coffin Puzzle room, check the last coffin (3rd row) to find the M-A-X Power disc.
You can find the Thrills at Night disc inside a secret passage full of sarcophagus. To find the secret passage, hit the flame lamp located on the south-east of the Coffin Puzzle room.
At the end of the secret passage, you will find the disc on the sarcophagus. However, a Black Shy Guy is protecting it. To get the disc, you need to find the 1000-Fold Arms magic circle. Hit the sarcophagus to find the magic circle.
Go back to the first Faceless Toad that you encountered in the Temple of Shrooms, which are inside the Triangle Switch Puzzle room. It is the next room after defeating the Mummified Paper Macho Goombas. Use the green Warp Pipe in the DJ room to travel to this area faster.
If this is your first time going to this area, you can open the entrance by hitting the hidden door on the east side of the Triangle Switch Puzzle room. Inside the room, move north-west from the hole on the wall to find the hidden staircase. Open the Treasure Chest to find one Faceless Toad.
From the Triangle Switch Puzzle room, enter the door to the north. As you walk on the path with sarcophagus on the sides, three Faceless Toads will fall hanging from the ceiling. If it is your first time finding them, free them first by pulling each toad.
In your first visit, after the room where the sarcophagus falls, you will discover a hidden entrance to the Stake Puzzle room. The three Faceless Toads are on the stake puzzle, so hit them with your hammer to free them.
Check the two glowing Paper Macho Shy Guy on the south of the DJ room to find the three Faceless Toads on each on.
The next Faceless Toads are in the Coffin Puzzle room, which is in the basement of the DJ room. To access the Coffin Puzzle room, use the stairs near the glowing Paper Macho Shy Guy (On the south-west of the DJ Room). Check the coffins that are second from the right on the top row, and the bottom-left to find the two Faceless Toads. Make sure to rescue the 16 Faceless Toads first, as you need help with opening the coffin.
You can find the last 24 Faceless Toads hanging in the Scuttlebugs web. To locate the entrance to this room, go back to the Coffin Puzzle room and push the Crescent Moon coffin. Go down the stairs and open the coffin in the platform to find the Starman. Defeat all the scuttlebugs to find the 1000-Fold Arms magic cirle and use it to reach the rest of Faceless Toads.
