1 Placing the Sun Incense.png
After obtaining the Sun Incense from Snif City, in Scorching Sandpaper Desert, go east and north around the corner with Warp Pipe No. 3 to find the Sun Altar. Place the Sun Incense here to start a cutscene.
2 Pokey.png
After placing the Sun Incense in the Sun Altar, defeat the Paper Macho Giant Pokey in a real-time boss battle. After the battle, you'll recruit Professor Toad into your party. How to Beat Giant Pokey
3 Go back to the Royal Hotel in Snif City. On the second floor, have Professor Toad reach each of the inscriptions for clues. After a cutscene, go back outside the Hotel.
4 Snifit Mood Booth.png
Go to the northwest corner of the city to find a Snifit behind a stand. You'll need to pay 100 Coins to try to guess its mood from four options. The answer will be Sad Sniff the first time you play (on the 2nd guess), and if you lose the first round, it will be Snickering Sniff in the second round. How to Guess the Snifit Mood
5 Got Suite Key.png
After winning the mini-game, use the 1,000 Fold Arms via the Magic Circle to rub the magic lamp, and Lugii will give you the Suite Key. Go back to the second floor and use the Suite Key to open the door. Go inside and interact with the north wall, and a cutscene will occur.
Go into the east door in this room to find a chest with Treasure No. 69.
6 Desert Arrangement Clue.pngEnlarge This mural shows the arrangement of the bird statues.
Go to the southeast area of Scorching Sandpaper Desert, where there are six statues of birds. By hitting their wings with the Hammer, you can rotate the birds. Rotate the statues so that all of them face inwards, matching the mural in the hotel. A karaoke microphone will appear. Interact with it and have Olivia perform My Heart's-a Burnin'.

Professor Toad Digs 2.png

After Professor Toad has joined the party, by pressing down on the D-pad, he'll dig up the earth below you to find coins aplenty! Especially when you see shining spots in the desert, take a moment to dig them up and earn some extra cash.

Boss Strategy Guide

Giant Pokey

Pokey Rolling.png

The Giant Pokey moves fast, and near the start of the battle, your Boot Car will be blown away by a sand tornado. But don't forget – you've got the Boot Whistle! By accessing the Items menu with Y, you can use the Boot Whistle to bring back your Boot Car.

Stay in the Boot Car for the majority of the fight, and only get out the second you have an opportunity to hit one of the Giant Pokey's seals, or ram the boot car straight into the bottom of its segments to destroy them without leaving the comfort of your vehicle. Keep hitting it until all three of its body portions go pow!
