This guide shows what happens when you get a game over (reach 0 HP) in Paper Mario: The Origami King, for the Nintendo Switch. To learn what happens when your HP reaches 0, and how to avoid that from happening, please read on.
When you reach 0 HP and get a "Game Over," you will revive at the location where you last saved. Since the game autosaves a lot when traveling around and entering new areas, you won't ever really have to go back that far, but just to be safe, hit up each block you come across!
If enemy attacks or field traps lower your HP to 0, Mario will collapse and the game will be over. If you have HP-recovery items, use them accordingly, to avoid emptying your HP.
During battle, 1-Up Mushrooms will automatically revive you when your HP reaches 0. We highly recommend that you keep one with you before entering a battle!
One example of a non-battle scenario where you can get a Game Over
There are many events and cutscenes that unfold as you progress through the game. In some of these cutscenes or events, you will get an immediate game over if you fail. For the most part, the game will always autosave beforehand, so you don't need to worry about being sent back very far.
