This guide shows a list of permanent decisions and things you cannot change in Paper Mario: The Origami King, for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn points of no return and unchangeable features!
Your Paper Mario: The Origami King save data will be linked to your user account (user profile). If you have multiple accounts on your Nintendo Switch, make sure you choose the right one at the beginning of the game.
If you want to start a new game without deleting your current save file, you can use another existing user account, or create a brand new one.
As you progress through the game, you will encounter allies and foes who will ask you questions. Almost always, your answers to these questions will not affect the outcome of the game, but keep in mind that once you give an answer, you cannot change your mind.
Here are some examples:
Q&A Outcomes | ||
---|---|---|
Location | Character(s) | Outcome |
Peach's Castle | Folded Peach | Your answers don't matter. The sequence will play out the same way for everyone. |
Spring of Jungle Mist | Olivia, Kamek & Bowser Jr. | Following Kamek is the most efficient route, though following the others will eventually take you to Kamek's route. |
From our findings, nothing important is missable or unchangeable. Phew!
There are some game elements that seem unchangeable at first, but can be reset or resolve on their own, like these:
If you accidentally break the wooden crates beneath it, you won't be able to reach a Hidden Block in the Scorching Sandpaper Far West area. To reset the crates, however, you only need to exit and re-enter the Yellow Streamer area.

You need the strength of at least 10 Faceless Toads to push open the coffins in the Temple of Shrooms, so you might miss out on things like the MAX UP Heart on your first way through. However, once you clear the stage, all coffins will automatically open, giving you access to their contents!
