How to Cross the Gap and Get the Chest in the Toad Town Mansion

This is a guide on how to get to the chest on the second floor of the Toad Town Mansion in Paper Mario: The Origami King. Read on to learn how to unlock the door and jump across the gap for the sweet loot in the treasure chest.

How to Get the Toad Town Mansion Chest

Get to Snif (Shroom) City

To get to the Toad Town Mansion chest, you must first rescue the owner of the Toad Town Mansion in Shroom (Snif) City. To get there you need to clear Red and Blue Streamer parts, then make it to the Scorching Sandpaper Desert area.

Free the Toad on the City Sign

Once there, you need to free a specific Toad by getting him down from the large city signboard right by the entrance.

How to Rescue the Toad Town Mansion Owner

1	Go straight ahead to the first building in front of you when you enter Shroom city.
2	Enlarge Head right towards the Save Point and go behind the building from that side.
3	Enlarge You'll be on a different screen showing you crates you can use to get onto the building roof.
4	Enlarge From the roof, jump off on the left side and hit the seesaw below.
5	Enlarge Head back to the city gates and Hammer the Toad Town Mansion owner to save him.

It's easier to hit the seesaw if you jump straight left from the narrow path-like indentation on the top of the wall.

Return to the Toad Town Mansion

Once he's on his merry way, head to a nearby Pipe and head back to Toad Town. Head into the Toad Town Mansion and up the stairs to find the mansion's owner lounging on a chair. Talk to him and he will unlock all the doors in the Toad Town Mansion.

How to Get to the Chest

1	Enlarge Exit the Toad Town Mansion and make your way to the second floor.
2	Enlarge If you don't have the staircase ready, go right to the coffee stall next to the building and hit the blue parasol to the left.
3	Enlarge Use the Magic Circle that appears to pull down a section of the wall and create a platform.
4	Enlarge Use the crates by the stall, the parasol and the new platform to jump onto the second floor landing.
5	Enlarge Head left and inside the Toad Town Mansion door that was previously locked.
6	Enlarge Open the chest to get Treasure No. 13.

Lower the Staircase

For easier access, unfold the staircase to the west of the Toad Town Mansion's front door.

Get 10,000 Coins

On top of unlocking the Toad Town Mansion's doors for you, the generous Toad will also give you 10,000 coins. Not bad!

Make Short Cut

Though you won't really need it, you can pull off the sticker nearby the chest to make a bridge, completing the grand, luxurious Toad Town Mansion.
