Should Maevaris or Dorian Become Archon?
Depends on Preferred Future Archon
Choosing between Maevaris and Dorian will only change the ending slides found after the game's different ending cutscenes. It will not affect the story's outcome up until that point.
As such, players should choose based on who they believe would make the better Archon.
Unable to Choose if Players Helped Treviso
If Rook chooses to help Treviso after the "A Warden's Best Friend" main quest, Dorian will automatically be chosen as the city's Archon since players lose the ability to choose between him and Maevaris.

The prompt for the choice appears at the end of "The Soul of a City" faction quest, after Rook gathers intel and returns to the Shadow Dragons headquarters.
