Dragon Age The Veilguard - Should the Griffons be Sentinels of Nature
In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players can choose to let the Griffons be sentinels of nature or return them to the Grey Wardens. See what the consequences and rewards of making them sentinels of nature or returning them to the Wardens are in this guide!

Should the Griffons be Sentinels of Nature or Return to the Wardens?

Return to the Wardens

Return to the Grey Wardens

Returning the griffons to the Grey Wardens gives Davrin the Defender passive, which reduces Assan-related ability cooldowns by 25%. This allows Davrin to detonate weakened with Death from Above more often, allowing a stream of powerful AoE damage when paired with Bellara and/or a Rogue Rook.

Let Them Become Sentinels of Nature

Reward Effect
Battlemaster
Veilguard Skill
・Assan abilities deal 25% more damage.
・When used, Assan abilities grant Precision.
Wildwood Benefactor
Legendary Armor
・Detonating Staggered enemies deals Stagger to all enemies
・Stagger from Detonating is increased by 10% for each enemy hit.

Defender and Wildwood Benefactor are particularly powerful for high Stagger builds. Staggering a target and detonating them with Davrin is a valuable source of AoE stagger, causing crowd control via stun and enables a chain of Takedowns.

How to Perform Takedowns

Return Them to the Grey Wardens

Reward Effect
Defender
Veilguard Skill
・Assan abilities have 25% shorted cooldown duration.
・When used, Assan abilities grant Deflect.
Grey Benefactor
Legendary Armor
・Detonations damage is now dealt as Fire damage.
・Deal +25% more Fire damage for each stack of Burning on the target.

Defender and Grey Benefactor augment Burning/Affliction builds, such as a team with a Mage Rook and Taash. Though this build requires an uptime of Burning stacks, detonates with the Grey Benefactor equipped and maximum burning stacks can deal a significant burst of damage on an enemy.

When Does the Choice Appear?

In The Profane and Lost Quest

Players will encounter this choice at the end of Davrin's companion quest called The Profane and Lost. It is the final quest in the chain, and will allow Davrin to become a Hero of the Veilguard once it is completed.
