Masters of the arcane and the elements, Mages use their prowess in manipulating the magical forces of the fade to shower enemies with elemental damage, and amplifying their own allies' defenses and abilities.
If you want to buff your allies and rain destruction down on your enemies with arcane mastery, the Mage is for you.
Mana is the Mage's class resource and is used to activate your abilities. The Mana meter passively regenerates over time.
The Mage can swap between an Elemental Orb and Mageknife pairing, or a traditional Staff.
The more melee-focused weapon set, the Mage imbues the Mageknife with the Orb's element, attacking at a close range with elemental melee attacks. Perfect for a Spellblade type of Mage, the Mageknife can timely deflect attacks.
The Staff is focused on range, blasting away at enemies with beams of the Staff's latent element. Holding block with the Staff creates a spherical barrier around you, which can be held up until you run out of Mana.
Mages wear robes that do not offer as much protection as armors, but can grant large arcane buffs to the user.
Unlike the other classes which can be any of the four races, Dwarves cannot be Mages. In Dragon Age lore, the use of magic requires a connection with the Fade which the Dwarves lack.

Specializations are unique sub-classes that are unlockable at level 20. Each specialization unlocks a new skill tree for your Mage, with unique skills to choose from depending on what you choose.
The Evoker uses ice magice to freeze enemies, control the battlefield, and shattering weakened enemies. This specialization focuses on cold damage and applying Freeze status effects.
Evokers have excellent crowd control with large AoE spells, and are perfect for those looking to build an Ice Mage.
Spellblades wield melee and magic together, being up-close and personal when in the fight. Spellblades focus on Electricity damage and Shock status effects, in line with their speed and agility.
This is a great choice for an aggressive melee based mage, who circumvents the typical mage archetypes.
Deathcallers drain the life of their enemies and use it to power their own spells. Deathcaller abilities deal Necrotic damage and apply Siphon status effects.
The Deathcaller specialization is a great choice for having the most sustainability as a mage, being able to deal damage and heal at the same time.
