Death Caller | Spellblade | Evoker |
The best build for Mage would be either the Spellblade build for melee combat enjoyers, or the Death Caller build for the typical Mage playstyle. The Mage build mostly focuses on elemental attacks and casting spells with mana so try to position yourself safely during combat.
Check out our Tier List for the best specializations you can use for the Mage class!
Best Classes and Specialization Tier List
Your skill priority really depends on what Specialization you want, but we've listed down the best skills for each Mage skill tree you can build on as you progress. The best Mage skills you can get are the following:
The best faction of origin for the Mage is the Shadow Dragons. If you're from Shadow Dragons, your class resource (in this case, Mana) regenerates faster. This is great for all specializations of the Mage!

Like the other classes, Mages can choose one of three Specializations, but only one Specialization can be activated at a time. Fortunately, you can refund your skill points and respec any point in the game!
Spellblades is a specialization of the Mage class that focuses on wielding a magic-imbued dagger. They have a more unconventional playstyle than the typical mage, opting to be closer to enemies than casting spells from behind.
Their main weapon is the Mageknives and Spellblades, paired with an Elemental Orb that gives the blades their power. They can also use Staves like a usual mage, but very rarely.

Death Callers are your typical dark magic Mages, opting to use spells that augment the life force of enemies and the user itself. They often deal Necrotic damage and a little bit of Cold on the side for crowd control.
Their main weapon is the Staves, usually imbued with Necrotic element. They are also experts on stealing the HP of enemies so you would not worry about topping off your health much!

Evokers are your standard mage that uses spells and attacks from a distance. They specialize on crowd control, opting to employ direct and AoE magic that stops enemies in their tracks.
Their main weapon is Staves, usually already imbued with a specific element. Considering Staves are ranged weapons, Evokers also like attacking from range.
Evoker Mage Build and Best Skills
Mages are known experts of Elemental Damage, wielding the power of Fire, Electricity, Necrosis, and Cold to deal damage. All their attacks are of a certain element, so knowing the enemies' weaknesses is a huge advantage.
Thankfully, you can check out their weaknesses while in Tactical Mode, so use the element that can deal the most damage!
The main resource that Mages expend to use skills is called Mana. Mana typically regenerates over time while in and out of battle, as well as when attacking enemies with Light attacks.
Mages are not only delegated to attacking from behind with spells and incantations, but they can also wield blades imbued with magic. If you like dishing out damage from melee range, consider using the Spellblade specialization!
