Fight Solas

Solas Petrifies the Companions

Choosing to fight Solas causes Rook and their team to stand against the elf-god one last time, risking their lives to defeat Solas. Together, they are able to overpower him and forcibly bind him to the Veil to stabilize it.

Fight Solas Choice Alternate Ending

There is an alternate version of this ending wherein no choice is offered, and the party goes directly to fighting Solas.

In this version, the companions are petrified by the elf-god, and Rook sacrifices themselves to get Solas' blood on the dagger to bind him. They are dragged together into the Veil.

Trick Solas

Solas Takes the Dagger From Rook

Tricking Solas leads to a cutscene where he takes the fake lyrium dagger to use on the Veil. It backfires, rendering him immobile, and vulnerable to the real dagger. Rook cuts him with it, and he is bound to the Veil, with the party living to tell the tale.

Save Solas

Solas After the Final Fight

If the players collected Mythal's Essence, a third choice appears. There is additional dialogue between the player and Solas, with the Inquisitor and Morrigan appearing in front of them. Morrigan draws forth Mythal to speak.

Mythal releases Solas from her service, and Solas willingly binds himself to the Veil as a form of atonement for everything he has done. Similar to the Trick choice, the party survives in this ending.

Save Solas Choice Alternate Ending

There is also an alternate version of this ending wherein the Inquisitor joins Solas as he is pulled into the Veil. The two share an intimate moment before saying goodbye to Rook and everyone present.

When Does the Choice Appear?

In The Dread Wolf Rises Quest

Rook Clashing with Elgar

The choice appears at the end of The Dread Wolf Rises quest, after defeating Elgar'nan, the game's final boss. The choices offered to them will differ based on the player's actions up to this point.
