A guide to the best class in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. See a tier list of all classes and specializations ranked!
The Warrior is our top choice of the three classes, but it doesn't win by a lot. The class is durable and easy-to-use, but still dishes out a good amount of damage.
Warriors have a straightforward, but diverse, set of skills. You can get away with just swinging at opponents and blocking and parrying attacks with your shield. Warriors also have higher Stagger damage useful for faster takedowns.
The Warrior's Rage meter fills up pretty quickly, since you get Rage from dealing or taking damage. As a result, you can comfortably spam your skills.
It's simpler than the Rogue's Momentum meter, which requires parries and dodges to fill up, and decreases when you take damage.
Warriors have high health and can tank a good deal of damage compared to other classes. Mages move a bit slow and are at greater risk of getting hit by wide-range attacks even when casting from a distance. Rogues are a bit squishy and need good timing to parry and avoid damage.
Veilguard does a great job of balancing the three classes, so it really boils down to your playstyle preference. If you like the satisfaction of perfect parries, go Rogue; if you like casting spells and fighting from a distance, go Mage instead.

1st | • Offers the best survivability among all classes • Does not fall off damage-wise, Warriors can still hit hard • Really easy-to-manage skill resource called Rage. Regenerates by getting hit and hitting enemies - that simple. • All specialization is viable but players have access to Reaper, one of the best specializations in the game. • The Reaper is tanky enough to survive hits, and when they do they recover it almost immediately with lifesteal. Opens up the possibility for an immortal build. |
---|---|
2nd | • The best middle ground for ease of use. • Has increased reliance on elements, so knowing the weaknesses of various enemy types is key to success. • Skill resource (Mana) is quite hard to manage, especially in battles. It can regenerate while outside battle though, so you're always full when starting a new fight. • Death Caller and Evoker seem a bit too similar in gameplay, with Spellblades being the only unique class that offers an entirely different playstyle. • Has access to a lot of Crowd Control abilities that are very important in the late game. • Extremely combo-heavy, so the learning curve is pretty steep. • A very powerful class to use when mastered. |
3rd | • Powerful, but quite hard to use. • Skill resource called Momentum requires Perfect Dodge and Perfect Parry to charge. It can be charged by attacking, but it is extremely slow. • Momentum is lost when Rogues take damage, making it even harder to manage the resource. • Parries and Dodge can be hard to execute when overwhelmed by enemies, especially in the late game. • Has the option to go full-ranged with Veil Jumper and Saboteur, but still pretty hard to manage in the late game when everything charges towards you. |
The best class in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the Warrior. It offers the perfect blend of survivability and power, enabling you to take on any foes at any point in the game.
Mage comes second, with its powerful combos and versatility giving it the well-deserved runner-up position. The Rogue, unfortunately, had to settle for third as its main mechanic of regenerating Momentum gets increasingly difficult in the late game.

Evoker | Saboteur |
The Reaper is the the best specialization in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It has access to skills that can steal HP from enemies enabling Warriors to recover the damage they receive very easily.
Reapers also have access to an amazing shield toss combo that gives them the ability to spam the toss to build Stagger, only running towards the enemy to finish them off.

Class | Explanation |
---|---|
Reaper | • The best specalization in the game • Has access to lifesteal on a very tanky class like the Warrior • HP management is not a problem because of it so everyone can push head on every time |
Class | Explanation |
---|---|
Spellblade | • Arcane Bomb mechanic deals huge damage when detonated. • Does not rely on Mana much and can easily recover it by attacking. • Can handle hordes of enemies easily. |
Death Caller | • Has access to Channeled Thoughts, enabling quick Mana regeneration for this caster-type Mage specialization • Because of Channeled Thoughts, Death Callers can virtually spam Corrupted Ground to deal insane amounts of Necrotic damage |
Champion | • Perfect balance of defense and offense • Can use both the sword and shield to deal damage. • Have access to Inspiring Guard, enabling the Champion to block unblockable attacks. |
Class | Explanation |
---|---|
Slayer | • Focuses on building stagger for takedowns. • Very straightforward combat but needs to manage Rage. • Needs mastery of status effects like Weakened and Sundered. |
Duelist | • Deals amazing melee damage • Relies heavily on perfect dodging and parrying because Duelists operates on melee distance. Susceptible to being overwhelmed by hordes enemies. |
Veil Ranger | • Ranged attacks specialist from the Rogue Class • Deals immense ranged damage from their skills. • Veil Rangers need to keep their distance from enemies which becomes a bit tricky when facing hordes of enemies in the endgame. |
Class | Explanation |
---|---|
Evoker | • Reliant on casting spells and crowd control. • Needs to manage mana and cooldowns a lot. • Overshadowed by the Death Caller. |
Saboteur | • Tool and contraption specialist of the Rogue. • Skill-reliant, so Saboteurs need to manage Momentum and cooldowns to effectively use skills. |
