Most quests contribute to faction strength, be it main quests, companion quests, or side quests. The faction whose involvement is relevant to the quest gains an increase in strength upon its completion.

Selling valuable items to faction merchants will increase the respective faction's strength. Valuables can be obtained from chests and opening random items found during exploration. Some valuables may give higher faction strength when sold to the right faction.

Faction strength is tied to a faction's power and influence, where higher faction strength enables the faction to accomplish feats and expand their merchant inventory by raising their shop rank. Higher faction strength allows Rook to purchase more items from their respective shops, and allow the factions to have a better chance at succeeding in the events of the Last Gambit main quest.

Select a Companion to Assist the Veil Jumpers

During the events of Last Gambit, it is heavily recommended for the factions to be at least 2 stars in strength to avoid the bad ending. This would mean completing as many faction and companion quests as possible before the point of no return.
