Minrathous or Treviso?
It's Easier to Get the Best Ending with Minrathous
We recommend choosing Minrathous over Treviso. Helping Minrathous allows you to get the best ending in Dragon Age: Veilguard much easier since the choice does the least damage to faction strength overall.
The choice appears right after completing "A Warden's Best Friend". It isn't a black-and-white decision, and both choices have positive and negative effects on the story, companion relationships, and faction strength.
The Consequences of Choosing
Your choice affects three main things:
- Companion Relationship - Either choice will result in a companion becoming Hardened. If you help Minrathous, Lucanis will be unavailable as a romance option. If you help Treviso, Neve becomes Hardened, but she can still be romanced unlike Lucanis, albeit at a slower pace. The Hardened companion will also be unavailable for a while.
- Faction Strength and Merchant - You lose faction strength and access to that faction's merchant with either choice. If you help Minrathous, Antivan Crows only loses 100 strength; if you help Treviso, Shadow Dragons loses 250. Faction strength also affects the ending that you get.
- Quests - Choosing a city locks you out of the other city's side quests, so do as many side quests as you can before getting to this point! The next quest and boss fight also change depending on which city you save.
What Happens If You Help Minrathous
Minrathous Pros and Cons
- Easier to get the best ending.
- Neve greatly approves.
- Stay on the Shadow Dragons' good side.
- Minrathous is safe.
- Lucanis can no longer be romanced.
- Lucanis is unavailable for a short time.
- Lose Antivan Crow faction strength (-100).
- Lose access to Antivan Crow merchant in Treviso.
- An Antivan Crows merchant Wisp spawns in The Crossroads.
- Treviso is blighted.
If you choose Minrathous, you get the "On Blighted Wings" quest and fight the Seartooth Vyrantus.
What Happens If You Help Treviso
Treviso Pros and Cons
- Harder to get to the best ending.
- Lucanis greatly approves.
- Stay on the Antivan Crows' good side.
- Treviso is safe.
- Neve is unavailable for a short time.
- Romancing Neve becomes slower and more difficult.
- Lose Shadow Dragon faction strength (-250).
- Lose access to Shadow Dragon merchant in Minrathous.
- A Shadow Dragons merchant Wisp spawns in The Crossroads.
- Minrathous is blighted.
If you choose Treviso, you get the "On Deadly Wings" quest and fight Corius the Ice Talon.
Does Not Lock You Out of the Best Ending
It is still possible to bring up the Shadow Dragon's faction strength to 2 Stars even if you saved Treviso during your playthrough. It will just take some time to do so.
How to Raise Blighted City's Faction Strength
Sell Valuables to the Crossroads Wisp
It is still possible to raise Strength with the blighted city's faction by finding this merchant wisp in The Crossroads. If you saved Minrathous, the wisp will appear as an Antivan Crows shop. If you save Treviso, the wisp becomes a Shadow Dragons Shop.
After completing The Heart of Corruption quest, players will gain the ability to sell valuables to this wisp, thus increasing Rook's Strength with the faction of the blighted city.

Anonymous 11 monthsAlthough SD does lose more faction strength, it is no more difficult to get the good ending by saving Treviso. Simply doing all the SD faction quests and selling items to the wisp merchant in the crossroads can get the SD faction strength high enough for the good ending - the faction strength only needs to be at 3 stars, but it's easy to max out. Pay attention to which items each faction finds more valuable; it makes it easy to rack up points.

Saving Treviso makes more sense to me. Minrathous has an army, a city guard, a templar force, a Magisterium, a host of powerful mage residents, some grey wardens and the shadow dragons for protection. Treviso has a handful of assassins. You can still romance Neve and max out SD faction strength, so you lose nothing by helping Treviso and their story and quests are better than Minrathous' if you do, imo.
