    Although SD does lose more faction strength, it is no more difficult to get the good ending by saving Treviso. Simply doing all the SD faction quests and selling items to the wisp merchant in the crossroads can get the SD faction strength high enough for the good ending - the faction strength only needs to be at 3 stars, but it's easy to max out. Pay attention to which items each faction finds more valuable; it makes it easy to rack up points.

    After finishing the Heart of Corruption quest, you get a Merchant to sell valuables to in the Crossroads, either for the Crows or Shadow Dragons (depending which city saved). You can then easily upgrade the faction to be maxed by selling your valuables.
